2023.06.10 22:46 Eboksba Creation of the Thaumcraft Neverhood Communities/Modpack! Alpha testers wanted!
Good morning/evening secret Thaumaturgists.
I am proud to announce, after a year in development, the creation of the Thaumcraft Neverhood Community and its associated modpack/server. Not a day has gone by in the panoply of subreddits and many modding communities without sorrow over the passing of Thaumcraft's time. Gone are the days of public and permanent dedicated Thaumcraft servers, spent are those hidden communities, drowned are the decrepit servers and ruins are all that remain of such a golden age of Minecraft modding.
Until now.
It has been *quite* some time since a dedicated public Thaumcraft server has lifted its flag, and it is with incredible pride that I announce its resurgence. Enter: The Thaumcraft Neverhood.
You see, Thaumcraft's creator, Azanor, spent years recreating over and over Thaumcraft's wonderful system and engine, and while the particulars changed with each version, the essentials remained the same; Essentia, Marvels, Madness. Being the ultimate magic mod with no easy competition and with a depth to chew on for years alone, Thaumcraft nurtured an addon scene of quality content and magnificently crafted environments that inspired people for decades. But Minecraft changed, over and over, and with each version, Azanor had to work harder and harder, rebuilding from the ground up ad nauseum until finally it was too much, leaving his latest version, Thaumcraft 6, unfinished and lacking in his previous creations. It would then sit there, forever untouched as Azanor retreated to his own personal demiplane. Other teams have attempted to pick up the reigns with his permission, but developer hell, small crafting budgets, and other issues have kept those groups and completion of the translation in limbo for years. Even then, it would be merely recreating an unfinished version, devoid of the fullness of the experience (though I have nothing but respect for those brave communities and modders that try).
Therefore, being a general consensus of multiple communities of the fullness and total content/inclusion/addon-scene, this modpack aims to be the **perfect** Thaumcraft experience, within the 1.7.10 version ruleset of Thaumcraft 4. Accompanying Thaumcraft and a number of the highest quality works-together addon mods, are additional dimensions, each selected for excellence and thoroughness of development, a perfect time machine to that era. For such a magnificent magical system deserves an equally magnificent set of places to explore and things to do, no?
What I have here is the alpha for such a magnificent endeavor, painfully coded and blood spilt to ensure compatibility with everything. Well, most everything. I need a team of alpha testers to break this mod over its knees. Crash it, break it, boil it. Fill the Aether with seas of flux, create a calculator using only golems, see how many ender pearls a rift wand can store before it explodes. In short, I need tests, experimentation, and feedback, SO much delightful feedback. I've gone as far as I can with 1 person, and before I go public with a stable launch of a forever server, I need to anneal it to the public's inspection as I'm aiming for perfection here, not "merely good enough to load."
For those that are interested, I would greatly welcome any willing to join in to get the ball rolling, but with or without you, I am making this happen. For those that want to help influence its early shaping, come and join us!
*edit - invite link fixed. Moderators still pending Curseforge page invite.*
Please send dm for invite links/location. FAQ is within the discord community.
Tl;DR
Thaumcraft's back baybee!....In 1.7.10
Thaumcraft modpack with its greatest Thaumic addons
11 total dimensions carefully chosen in a realm of planar chaos.
Need alpha stress testers before server goes live:
Server is planned to be a whitelisted RP experience, though the modpack is ofc open for those others to use.
Free.

2023.06.10 22:45 MugiwaraNoUser The change i would make to the Draft
The are two main things that always annoyed me about the draft, regardless of it being in the NBA or NFL. The first is the fact that the players themselves have little to no say regarding their futures. The second is that, the way its designed today gives way to much weight to the last season, disregarding the past seasons, which causes bizarre situarions like the warriors getting a higher pick due to 1 injury ridden season (after winning three trophies in like the last 6 seasons before) than the kings that were out of the playoffs for a decade.
So, the change i would make: i would abolish the order of the picks and change the way the lottery works. In summary, each team gets two picks, and its allowed to interview and offer a contract to any two players, and the same player can receive offers from all teams. After the player decides in favour of one team, the others are allowed to make offers for a new player.
For example: the lakers could make an offer for wemby and scoot henderson. If wemby chooses to accept the offer from the spurs, the lakers is then allowed to make a new offer to brandon miller, and so on, until 64 players are drafted.
But how to keep the league competitive and avoid the top team to stockpile the best draft prospects every year? By fixing the lottery and changing the financial packages.
So, in this case, the current champion would have the worst available package. For example, it has a total draft budget of 12m/year and can only offer 3 year deals. So, if they offer 10m/y to one player and they accept it, the other offer is capped at 2m/y. On the other hand, the best available package would go to the team with the biggest run of missed playoffs. If two teams have the same run, the average league position on those years is taken in consideration. Maybe, for example, the best package would be a 50m/year budget, and the possibility of a 5y deal. Importantly, the budget would be guaranteed, so its value is not affected by the salary cap situation of the team.
This way you increase accountability in the league, as both the player is responsible for choosing the best place for him and the teams are forced to do a more in depth study of the whole class to plan their deals.
The player gets the chance to go to wherever he feels he'll develop the best, but cant complain if he is a PG, chooses to play with prime Curry, and spends three years on the bench with 5 minutes per game. The teams get the chance to at least try whichever player they believe will be the best fit for their squad, instead of having to "settle" for whoever is still on the table by the time their pick comes by, and are allowed to design any package to the best of their capabilities, considering intangibles as well (minutes per game, having a coach that will help them more than others, the opportunity to play with some specific player already on the squad).
Also, it would give a whole new dimension for trades, since any trade can become a first round (though the budget would be scaled considering the available package. In other words, if the team with the best package deals one pick to the worst package, the team getting the pick would see their available budget go from 12 to 18m, not from 12 to 37m. Also, obviously, the team dealing the pick also sees their available budget decreased, so, instead of 50m, it would be one pick with a 25m budget).
Does it risk one team stockpilling talent year after year? Yes. But seriously, if the team with the worst offer is still more attractive every year, the others are doing something very wrong.

2023.06.10 22:43 ConsultingStartupEU Poked for a Customer Success job EU
Hi all,
I was poked by a recruiter regarding a job in Customer Succes as a Customer Success Coordinator in a SaaS business.
The industry is the one I’ve been part of since leaving the Air Force, and the customer in this role will be management and people in the role I have worked in the last many years.
Basically I have extensive experience in the industry, but I hadn’t heard about customer success prior to receiving the LinkedIn message.
Now I have the first interview in just shy of two weeks.
I have listened to YouTube videos during my commute, and I have commenced SuccesCoaching’s full package of CSM courses, I am planning to achieve at least the Certified Customer Success Manager Level 1 (CCSM) prior to the in person interview to get ahead.
I figured getting an accredited Certification in CSM might be the tipping point in making me even more attractive as candidate for the role.
How did you achieve your first CSM jobs?
Any advice for the job?
I am looking at Comp. For the role and I can see salaries on the sub ranging quite far, the job is in Northern Europe with client visits including the Middle East and Africa.
Comp. range for a CSM in my country looks to be $65,000 to $105,000
I am looking at them offering $70-78,000 (Not including retirement, bonus, or other benefits)
What kind of advice can you experienced professionals give when it comes to negotiating for the first CS job?
(I am planning to have fixed inflation increase, one yearly salary negotiation on top, and education/training stipend on top)
Looking forward to hear your advice, Thank you

2023.06.10 22:42 throwaway-3827 I (M24) am uneasy about my relationship with gf (F22)
I am currently in a relationship (5 months as of now, officially. Started talking in September of 22) and I’ve recently been feeling like something is off. Not like she’s being unfaithful or anything, but I don’t get the sense that she’s “the one”. I just came back from a family vacation with her family, and I expected it to be super fun and chill, time for us to grow closer, but the entire time I felt this undercurrent of “it won’t last. She’s not the one.”. Now, I have anxiety that I take medication for, and I feel like my mind automatically goes to these worst case scenarios. She’s great; always nice to me, very understanding, super pretty and the sex is awesome. But about three months ago, we were watching TV and I kind of had a panic attack because I felt so conflicted; I told her how I felt, and said maybe splitting up would be the best thing. Of course this blindsided and hurt her, and we didn’t last 24 hours apart before we came back together, determined to iron out our issues and be stronger. And we did get stronger. All of the superficial stuff has been fixed, but that lingering doubt is still plaguing me. And I’m afraid that I’m at the point where I’m wasting her time if I’m really not into it. I mean, how could I blindside her AGAIN and basically say “I know things are better, but I still don’t feel it, sorry for wasting your time”, because she doesnt deserve that. But I’m afraid that the longer I wait, the worse it’ll be. What should I do? Should I wait and see where it goes? Or is my mentality indicative of something not working?
TL;DR: girlfriend is nearly perfect in every way, but I am having reservations of her being “the one”

2023.06.10 22:40 robotrobot3 New Build - IM 15 vs Reef Casa 16 vs JBJ 20 Cube?
I'm planning to set up my first tank in the next few weeks - I live in a relatively small apartment, so can really only fit a nano tank on my desk. I've narrowed it down to the following three tanks:
Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 15,
Reef Casa Vila 16 or
JBJ Cube 20. The IM 15 seems like the best deal at $100, and I'm slightly worried about going with a 20 gallon (given that's almost 200 lbs of water on a freestanding desk, but curious if anyone else has good or bad experiences with these. I'd just have a pair of ocellaris clownfish, CUC and some corals, and hopefully upgrade to a larger tank in two years once I can buy a house.
For the rest of the gear, I'm planning on going with the following:
Do you think all of these would work for my setup? Anything critical missing? I'm also planning to get an auto-feeder for when I'm away on vacation, but will probably get that later on.

2023.06.10 22:38 moprey My partner's brother took credit for my work on his CV
My partner's brother has never had a job in his life. Two years ago I started a small business which has seen relative success so far. My partner has contributed to the packaging where I couldn't, and has held most of the inventory. My business has 100% positive feedback, over 150 sales and has developed relationships with small local charities. All of this is down to work I've done, I communicate with all of the customers, keep on top of all the shipping, and talked to the charities myself. My partner's brother recently decided to take credit for all of this on his CV and got an interview as a result. I'm so hurt by this... how can someone do that to someone they know and not even feel guilty?

2023.06.10 22:38 saadiyaaaassss This is a rant
Currently in my van having a panic attack due to some of these apartment complexes and delivery notes and also just everything. Why have a delivery shed that requires a passcode and your residents don’t even have a code. Then you reach out cause the delivery instructions tell you to contact customer so you do just to be told “select deliver package” ohh yeah, why didn’t I think of that 🙂🙃On top of that this stupid phone has been lagging all day. I’m utterly frustrated and want to go home. Typically I can deal with 192 stops with under 300 packages but today just wasn’t my day. Luckily dispatch is sending someone to rescue me cause I feel so behind. But guess what, I’m gonna still bring my black booty to work on Monday cause the world doesn’t stop.

2023.06.10 22:37 Severe_Card_5162 Barriers to successful collaboration: Negative perceptions of SLPs in schools
My true joy in working in public schools is being able to work with a team. Afterall, who can manage working with children all by yourself with no shoulders to lean on?
For me, I've done a mix of push in and pull outs all with relative degrees of success. The most successful practice being to team up with a SPED teacher who has multiple students of mine and move in groups from table to table, occasionally reviewing material to the class all at once (middle school mild to moderate).
The least succussful being a full inclusion model where there are no SPED classes and the SLP goes into the gen ed classroom to support the 1-2 caseload students in the back of the class. In this model, the teachers were open to me sitting in their rooms but not necessarily planning anything together due to time constraints, perception of collaboration with SLP being low priority, or general misunderstanding of our scope of practice and the particular goals for each student.
I've heard a few negative perceptions from classroom teachers complaining it's not fair for SLP to pull from their class (why can't you pull him from someone else's class?), or to please not disturb them on such and such day because they're working on a project that needs to be completed in X days, or requests to help them in ways that a paraeducator would. These occur mostly in gen ed environments, charter schools that push inclusion, and even in some SPED classrooms where the teacher feels as though another adult in the room infringes on their space.
Given this reality, the fact that we are not wanted in the schools, and the fact that our space is usually not appropriate for treatment (if you even have a space) I don't see how SLPs are keeping up with their mental health. What are your suggestions and thoughts about working to increase team teaching and collaboration?

2023.06.10 22:31 Throwra-Nerd17 My neighbor ghosted me - what’s the best way to reduce friction?
She had a crush on me then ghosted me?
I got ghosted - should I move on or try and talk to her again?
It all starts with a mutual friend of hours who happens to work at the same company as me. Me and him aren’t super close, but we’re what you’d call great work friends. He’s my favorite coworker, I see him on the way to work as he lives a bit closer so we usually meet up and walk the final leg. A coffee buddy, but not necessarily a go out party buddy or anything like that. He’s a few years my senior and has kids and a wife putting him in a completely different stage in life.
Anyway, the story goes that he mentioned someone who lives in my building I think he went to college with, but I get the impression it was more so a friend of his wives who also went to the same school. I had never paid attention to this girl, but seen her a few times around the high rise. You know like when you see a person and you’d recognize them, but wouldn’t do anything beyond that. I don’t recall if I ever even said hello. Again it’s one of those things, IDK why, but some people I say hello to right when I get on the elevator others I don’t.
He mentions her and how she said “who’s that guy he’s so handsome” and said she’s been crushing on me or a secret admirer I guess you’d call it. He first told me this at the end of April.
Well, finally I met her bumping into her I introduced myself we chatted for a couple mins and that was that. Again, a few days later I ran into her in the package room we rode the elevator up and just said hello. Not too much at all.
I felt like after the first interaction things were good, I think she knew I’d heard obviously what my friend had said but wasn’t awkward at all. We just smiled she said her name etc.
Next thing you know, she’s popping up everywhere on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, so a couple days after I see this I shoot her a follow request on Instagram. I check back the next day, still on requested. Then, the following day I go back and it says follow. WTF? Did I just get ghosted?
Also, I shot her a funny message on our housing portal app it’s like a community app where we submit vendor tickets, pay bills, and it has everyone’s contact in there where you can DM.
I sent one on there. A week later I’m sitting on ghosted 2x.
Eventually I’ll have to see her again simply by chance, but I’m absolutely going to take a backseat role here — right? My friend absolutely wouldn’t send me off, but we aren’t so close that I’d bother him over this. And based on the girls friendliness etc when we first introduced, she definitely seemed interested.
FWIW, I know she’s really close with this other girl I am friendly with who’s married. Me and this girl and sometimes her husband all keep the same schedule and she’s super friendly almost like she’s interested for her friend, if that makes sense. I haven’t seen her recently to notice any change in her attitude but will definitely be watching for it. I don’t even know her name, but we chat a lot when we run into each other.
What do my next steps look like? It seems obvious if she was super into me she would’ve at least replied to my message? Maybe too soon for IG, but IDK the whole thing seems off…
Honestly it won’t be awkward for me, but I feel bad if I did something that turned her away. I’m fine with just being neighbors at a distance.
