Hi I’m a 28F. Medical History: Obesity, Hypertension, Vertigo, Anxiety/Depression. Meds: Lisinopril 10mg & Prozac 40mg daily. I take Meclizine 25mg for vertigo as needed. If my anxiety is really bad, I can take Hydroxyzine 25mg. I do not smoke or do any other drugs other than what’s listed. I do not drink.
Just recently I felt something odd happen while laying on my left side in bed. I’m on my phone looking through pics on FB, and randomly my body jerked/twitched and eyes moved rapidly for like <1 second from side to side.
Idk what happened but it scared me. I feel fine otherwise. Just pretty worried about whatever it was that happened. I took my BP and it’s 133/84. SpO2 norm as well. I take these vitals just in case to help my mind.
Was I falling asleep and not realizing? I was sleepy at that moment. I also woke up this morning with a bit of anxiety. Just nervous that something is wrong and idk what it is.
This has never happened to me before.

The first thing you need to ask yourself about investing, is are my obligations taken care of? Your bills and other necessities should be taken care of first. Then after putting money away in your savings, ask if your remaining money disposable income. The answer should be yes. Like gambling, you should only invest what you can afford to lose. Even if it's only $10, that's fine. Unlike gambling, it's normally possible to get at least some of your money back. It's a start and hopefully that number will increase. Many stocks will pay you in the form of dividends. You can use the dividends to buy more shares of stock, and in return increase your dividends.

Need some advice. Having some mental issues
New account to post this. I am in TX, have ~6 YOE operating in general management / analytics / product roles. Have been playing more of a traditional product role the last 2 years. Work at a very large public company. Have been at the same company for 6 years and have been a consistent top performer earning multiple promotions over the years.
I lead 2 product teams consisting of ~20 engineers, some designers, data engineers, data scientists and have a few product managers under me. Base salary is ~$170K with $20K bonus. Product I own is a portion of the user facing website.
I am not a traditional product manager. I was thrown into this position some time back due to being in the right place at the right time and the scope has grown significantly over the two years. All of that was fine until the last few months where macroeconomic factors are putting a ton of pressure on talent and we are pretty much forcing out the bottom 15%. It’s been a real punch in the gut sitting through these performance review sessions with stack ranking. Usually it’s pretty obvious who the bottom performers are, now the bar is arbitrary (but “rising”… whatever that means). We’ve started to hire Amazon execs in our product org and I can feel the culture shifting.
Here is my worry - I browse this subreddit and I am not like many of the folks here. I am not passionate about product, I don’t obsess about it. I am good at it, in my opinion due to my analytical skills & strong soft-skills & business judgment which usually leads to strong results. But now I’m starting to worry our culture is shifting and we will start bringing in talent that is just better than me. Maybe I am over reacting , but with the current economy I can’t help but look at our roadmap and wonder if any of this really even matters at year end, because if it doesn’t generate a bunch of money, who cares? It’s never really felt that way before.
All this to say, I’ve been working probably 70 hours/ week for the last year managing this department. Generally I am not very happy at work, but it hasn’t always been this bad in my 6 years.. who’s to say it won’t turn around once the economy is better (?). It’s gotten so bad that I had a pretty bad mental breakdown recently and I am starting to question my entire career path. I have talked with my manager and my performance is actually still very good, but at the cost of what? And will it be good enough going forward? It’s a lot of pressure. I used to be very happy at this company. The money is nice, it provides a nice life for me and my wife. But I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth it.
I have started to talk to my manager about switching to software engineering within the company. I have programmed on the side for a while now, but I would expect to be demoted quite a bit. Probably bringing my base salary down to ~120-130K. I have no doubt if I can build the technical skills that I can move up in tech as in product my life is filled with meetings, presentations, stakeholder management. Etc.. all things our engineers get constant feedback on that they need to improve. I also notice the WLB of our engineers is much better, most don’t work more than 40 hours per week. I like programming, it’s fun building things and I don’t have to think about business strategy and how to generate millions of dollars on a daily basis.
This is all probably just stress and I need to vent. I don’t know. I have never felt unsure and incompetent about my abilities before, but I don’t feel great right now.

I can’t believe I blindly allowed this… Again.
Years ago I was stay at home mom, husband didn’t make much but we lived with my mom, so we were making ends meet. My husband paid all the bills and I really didn’t pay attention to any of our finances, I just kept my expenses low. I asked about going back to school to finish my degree before going back to the workforce, and he didn’t seem to have an issue with it.
[Background: his mom had recently passed away and left him $20k. But I honestly had no idea he was dipping into it!!]
I finished my associates at community college and started my first semester at a state university. Before the fall semester ended Christmas was getting close and I started talking about presents for the kids. He wouldn’t say much, but said he wasn’t sure what all we could do… long story short we had completely run out of all money to the point that we couldn’t even pay our bills that month!
“HOW COULD YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED THIS?!” The more I asked, the more he withdrew. He was sure I was going to leave him because he couldn’t provide for me the life I wanted… I was furious that he would keep this kind of secret from me, and just let me blindly squander away all his inheritance like that! I felt like such an ass.
I told him we were a team, and that EVERYONE needs to learn to live within their means, etc. But it seemed like he just couldn’t hear me, and really felt bad about being a terrible husband. So, we never really did talk about it much. I left school and quietly grieved the career I thought I was going to have and went to work. We started to use a budgeting app. Finances sucked for that first year, but things got better.
About 5 yrs ago my mom passed away, and leaves a very messy estate for me to deal with. I start leaning on my husband to do the finances while I worked my way through that. Somehow we actually come away from that mess with a decent inheritance. Enough to take a gamble at a better life. We sell off everything and move across country to a (admittedly expensive) city with better opportunities.
His job transfers him and doesn’t pay much more. I quit when we moved but quickly started working somewhere else making more, then changed jobs and am now making about double. I just got my first huge bonus! “Hey, we can finally afford this expensive-ass city!” I say.
Excited, I want to open up the budget and start moving some into savings for the first time… And this is when a ton of bricks fell on me. We had been hemorrhaging money, and I had no idea. About $2k per month over what we make!! There was no sign that he was going to mention it to me… AGAIN.
I’ve asked several times, “How are we doing right now?”, “Can I buy these shirts now or should I wait til next month?”, “Should we go out for brunch or eat at home and then go grocery shopping?”. He always says we’re fine and “nope, go ahead and get it!”
Goddammit!
I mean, thank god we’re not in dire straights again. We can still recover. But it just really pisses me off, and I have no idea how to talk to him about it without him thinking I want to leave him or something! I think the only thing I can do is vent on here anonymously, and quietly take over budgeting for us.
TL:DR I guess I’m just a fucking idiot and let someone who’s bad with money be in charge of money… again.

Finally took my new S&W 610 out. Used the factory moon clip and loaded up 180gr Sellier & Bellot ammo. Shot great....until I went to reload. Could not get the moon clip and empty shells out of the cylinder. I know to use a wood dowel to tap these things out but decided to take it back to the gunstore where I bought it. They got it out and tried with two of my rounds w/o the moon clip. Guy said it works fine--just don't use the moon clips. I'm assuming he pointed the barrel up and the 2 shells dropped out--thing is, the ejector will not eject the shell as it does not engage the rim. What happens if some shells swell and become stuck! I'm taking it back as any firearm that cannot be easily reloaded is not worth spending a grand on. At least the single actions I have shot had the plunger to push out each shell. We'll see what the gun store has to say on Tuesday morning.

I was 29 , had a career in IT as a director in formation ( to take over the current one when he retire ) and was doing fine. I've met this girl who was in her 3rd year of dental school in Montreal. We clicked and i managed to limit it to 1 time a week. she couldn't '' spend a lot of time with me '' due to her study. i respect that but i feel that created a void.

fast forward , she took a year off before her 4th year started. we did bond for the first 6 month but then she went back into study mode which effectively reduced our interaction to almost none. i felt disconnected and she wouldn't make any effort to show me what she loves or anything. i feel i was dating a shell , empty one.

Then she graduated and uprooted me from my support system in Montreal ( family & friends ) to Seattle so she could do her residency. i felt alone and depressed , as my wife (we got married 2 months after moving to Seattle ) promised me she would make and spend time with me. she would work , come home tired & not do anything. i felt betrayed and lonely. a gap was forming between us. she left her residency midway through due to personal reason and arguments at work , i bailed her out for her mental sanity.

We came back to Montreal , and the last 6 months before we broke up, she still wouldn't give me time. she was studying for her '' Canadian dentist board '' . I've realized that after chasing a wife and partner for 3 years , i was chasing a carrot on a stick and she would never make time for me.

I separated and starting the divorce but i feel betrayed and my time wasted. i gave all my time in the world , good or bad , for someone who would prioritize career over her husband. I don't understand those type of people and i resent career oriented people now. they sacrifice everything at the cost of their career. i was there to support her during school, be an emotional support , make her happy, sacrificed everything to make sure she is fine. not once did she return the favor , everything gravitated around her. I hate career oriented people , narcissist who ruins everything. it is just horrible

Sharing my story , now i am stuck in a house i have that is too big for me and my weekends feel empty because all i did for the past 3 years was wait for her to make '' time for me '' to do something. I've gotten used and accustomed to sitting around until she would free her time. so its a habit i have to undo but it angers me because i can't do it instantly and its a horrible feeling to live with. just waiting around for something to happen. as if i lost my intuition to start an activity.

On top if it , because we didn't spend time together , i became for the last year of our relationship , this hateful person who wouldn't be able to process anger. i was bottling this feeling because i knew her career would be more important than anything and i would have some outburst of anger , which made me look like i have mental issues. It is such a vicious circle , talk to her about chilling with work & she leaves , keep it to myself and i bottle anger with outburst. i just didn't see an endgame where i would of won in this relation and last unless i sacrifice all my sanity

To create a simple Chinese lantern, mark two lines around a clean empty can, about 2.5cm from the top and bottom. With a sharp craft knife, make vertical cuts about 1.5cm apart between the lines. Before giving up hope of removing a stubborn perspiration stain from a shirt, try this. Crush two aspirins and mix the powder in 100ml warm water. Soak the stained part of the garment in the solution for two to three hours.

You can remove most dirty or greasy fingerprints from painted walls by rubbing the area with a slice of white bread. Bread does a good job of cleaning nonwashable wallpaper as well. First cut off the crusts to minimise the chance of scratching the paper.

Buff up a dull-looking stainless steel sink by rubbing it down with a few drops of baby oil on a soft clean cloth. Rub dry with a towel and repeat if necessary. This is also a terrific way to remove stains on the chrome trim of kitchen appliances and bathroom fixtures.

Even the smelliest shoe or trainer is no match for the power of bicarbonate of soda. Liberally sprinkle powder in the offending loafer or laceup and let it sit overnight. Discard the powder in the morning. (Be careful with leather shoes as repeated applications can dry them out.)

Crayons make an excellent filler for small gouges or holes in resilient flooring. Select a colour that closely matches the floor. Melt the crayon in the microwave on medium power over a piece of greaseproof paper, until you have a pliant glob of colour. With a plastic or putty knife, fill the hole. You can use a softened crayon to cover even quite deep scratches on wooden furniture.

Place a series of carpet offcuts upside down and cover them with bark mulch or straw for a weed-free garden path. Use smaller scraps as mulch around your vegetable garden.

They're full of nutrients that acid-loving plants crave. Save them to fertilise rose bushes, azaleas, rhododendrons, evergreens and camellias. It's better to use grounds from a drip coffeemaker than the boiled grounds from a percolator as the drip grounds are richer in nitrogen.

Use them as garden/driveway reflectors. Drill small holes into a CD and screw it ito a gatepost or stake. Install several of them to mark out a night-time path to your front door.

Dab small nicks on household appliances with correction fluid. Once it dries, cover your repair with clear nail polish for protection.

D is for ... dental floss
Secure a button permanently with dental floss - it's much stronger than thread. Make hardwearing repairs to outdoor items. Because dental floss is resilient but fine, it is an ideal replacement for thread when you are repairing an umbrella, tent or rucksack.

E is for ... emery board
If a favourite pair of suede shoes have become stained and tired, an emery board can revive them. Rub the stain lightly with the emery board, and then hold the shoe over the steam from a kettle to remove the stain. This technique will work for suede clothing too.

F is for ... fabric softener
End clinging dust on the TV. To eliminate the static that attracts dust, dampen a duster with a little fabric softener straight from the bottle.

and for ... freezers
Place candles in the freezer for at least two hours before burning. They will last longer.

G is for ... golfing equipment
If a screw won't grip because its hole has become too large, dip the tip of a golf tee in wood glue and tap the tee into the hole. Cut the tee flush with a craft knife. When the glue dries, you can drill a new pilot hole in the same spot.

To keep a child's priceless work of art at its very best before you put it on the pinboard or fridge door, preserve it with hairspray to help it last longer. This works especially well on unstable chalk or pastel pictures as it stops them from getting smudged so easily.

Here's what to do with a half-drunk bottle of red or white wine. Freeze the wine into cubes that can be used later in pasta sauces, casseroles or stews.

Keep drinks cold at a barbecue or party with ice blocks made from empty milk cartons. Rinse them, fill them with water and put them in the freezer. Peel away the container when you're ready to put them in the punch bowl. If you intend to use them as cooler blocks, leave the container in place.

N is for ... nail varnish
Preserve the important information on labels with a coat of clear varnish. Keep a shirt in good shape by putting a drop of clear varnish on the thread in the buttons. It prevents fraying and loss of buttons.

Slow-ripen tomatoes that are still on the vine in autumn. Wrap each one in a couple of sheets of newspaper and then store them in airtight containers inside a dark cabinet or cupboard at room temperature. Check each one every three or four days; they will eventually ripen to perfection.

Make your own furniture polish. Combine two parts olive oil with one part lemon juice or white vinegar in a clean recycled spray bottle, shake it up and squirt it on. Leave the mixture on for a minute or two, then wipe off with a clean cloth or paper towel. If you're in a hurry, apply olive oil straight from the bottle on to a paper towel. Wipe off any oil that remains with another towel.

Add luxury to a regular bath. All you need is 200g oatmeal and your favourite scented oil. Grind the oatmeal in a blender, put it in a cheesecloth bag, add a few drops of scent and suspend the bag under the running water as you fill your bathtub.

To remove paint or varnish from wooden or metal furniture, try oven cleaner. It costs less than commercial strippers and is easier to apply (if you spray it). After applying, scrub off the old paint with a wire brush. Neutralise the stripped surface with vinegar, then wash it off with water. Allow to dry. Warning: never use oven cleaner on antique or expensive furnishings - it may darken wood or discolour metal.

P is for ... plastic bottles
Create a drip irrigator for plants. Cut a large hole in the bottom of a bottle, then drill two to five tiny (1.5mm) holes in or around the cap. Bury the closed bottles upside down about three-quarters submerged beneath the soil near the plants you need to water, and fill with water through the hole on top. Refill as needed.

R is for ... rubber flip-flops
Slip a rubber flip-flop on to your hand and rub carpets and rugs in the direction of the pile. Any pet hair will form into balls that can then be vacuumed up. This works well on upholstery, too, including car seats.

S is for ... sand
Fill a large bucket with builder's sand and pour in about a litre of clean motor oil. Plunge spades, hoes, rakes and other tools into the sand a few times to clean and lubricate them. To prevent rust, you can leave the tool blades in the sand for storage.

Watermarks from damp glasses or bottles left on a wooden surface are unattractive. Make them disappear by mixing one teaspoon of salt with a few drops of water to form a paste. Gently rub the paste on to the ring with a soft cloth or sponge until the spot is gone. Restore the lustre with furniture polish.

T is for ... tennis balls
Give yourself a relaxing and therapeutic back massage: fill a long tube-shaped sock with a few tennis balls, tie the end and stretch the massager around your back as you would a towel after a shower.

To find lost small objects, cut the leg off an old pair of tights, making sure the toe is intact and pull it over the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner hose. Secure with a rubber band. Turn on the vacuum and you will soon find your valuable attached to your homemade filter.

Make an instant trellis. Remove the fabric from an old umbrella and insert the handle into the ground to support climbing vines such as clematis. The umbrella's shape, covered with flowers, will look terrific in the garden.

For a quick and easy weedkiller, mix 30ml vodka, a few drops of washing-up liquid and 400ml water in a spray bottle. It won't work in shady spots.

For fast relief from a bee or wasp sting, spray WD-40 directly on the bite. It will soothe the pain at once.

Put 200ml plain active-culture yoghurt into a blender, along with a handful of moss and about 200ml water. Blend for about 30 seconds. Use a paintbrush to spread the mixture wherever you want moss to grow - between the cracks of a stone path, on the sides of flowerpots - as long as the spot is cool and shady. Keep misting the moss with water until it is established.

Ever lost your car keys in the sand at the seaside? Stitch a small zipped pocket to one corner of the underside of your beach towel, just big enough for keys, sunglasses and maybe a few coins.

Planning to leave Calgary early 2024. Lease up for renewal this summer. Want to sign 6 month or go month to month but landlord is refusing. 12 months or nothing.
He says we can break lease with 60 day notice for $250 in a few months and as long as he can find replacement renters, he will let us go.
My wife thinks it's fine as Calgary rental market is hot right now and our condo is affordable & in a good area.
But I'm wary. Anything can change in a few months. If they can't find (or just can't be bothered to find) new renters we are stuck paying the full lease regardless.

So I was listening to “good kid” today and in it he says, “step on your neck as hard as your bulletproof vest.” It wasn’t the first time I heard the song, but the first time I heard the lyric (lyrics are neverarely the first thing I memorize from songs). I immediately thought of George Floyd. I had a very emotional response for several reasons,* but wanted to bring to light the fact that Kendrick’s lyrics have, so often, made me emotional, inquisitive, and pensive. I can’t hear this song anymore without crying, which is fine with me. He is an amazing writer & I’m grateful for it.
*Several reasons…most importantly that this bullshit from police (and racism in America in general) has been unchecked for way too fucking long. This song was released years before the murder of George Floyd, and police brutality has gone unchecked well before that (that’s putting it mildly). Racism makes me sick and ultimately thoughts of it and how cruel and stupid racists are…that’s what provokes the emotions from me.

I have been playing Uncharted Nathan Drake collection. Both Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves ran smoothly. But whenever I turn Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception on, error ce-34878-0 pops up in the first scene.
I tried every possible fix I found on the internet, updated the software version and the game. Even initialised my PS4 and redownloaded the game. But it's all been futile. What can I do under these circumstances?
NB: Uncharted 1 & 2 still runs just fine. It's only Drake's Deception that shows this error.

This is the 3rd time this has happened now. This morning I had a weird ache in my throat that I've never felt before. I drank way too much last night so I thought I was just really dehydrated. I tried to take it easy and hydrate but it kept getting worse. Then it felt like my throat was closing up and I was having trouble breathing. I started hyperventilating to the point where my body started buzzing. I have never buzzed this much before. I was getting dizzy. I really did not want to call 911 but I swear I couldn't breathe. I tried to take a hot shower to open my throat but didn't work. Somehow I convinced myself that my lips were turning purple but it was just the lighting. I finally decided to call 911 and could only say 2-3 words at a time and could barely understand what the operator was saying. A fire truck came and like 10 young volunteers surrounded me outside my porch and started asking questions and getting a bunch of things out, with all the neighbors peeking out. Literally as soon as they talked to me, I was perfectly normal. They thought I called about someone else in the house but I told them it was me and they were genuinely so nice but I could tell they seemed a little confused because I was talking to them as if nothing happened 1 minute ago. At that point, I felt very embarrassed and guilty for causing such a scene and feeling like I wasted their time.
This happened last year too when I thought I was having a heart attack and took an ambulance to the ER just for everything to come back normal. As soon as I stepped in the ambulance I felt at peace and felt really bad but the paramedic convinced me to go to the ER just in case, but all it did was run up a medical bill. So I was hesitant to call 911 and I'm afraid that one day I really will have a medical emergency and I won't get treated.
I wanna know if this has happened to anyone else where you felt immediately fine once you are in the presence of paramedics, nurses, doctors, etc. BTW, I haven't been evaluated for asthma.
