A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do as a user?

• Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
• Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at ModCoord.
• Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
• Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

Does Acer really not cover RMA/warranty service shipping?
I have an Acer Chromebook CB317-1H that was purchased last summer (about a month left on warranty now). It has had an ongoing issue for the entire purchase period where it intermittently crashes/freezes/hangs and either shuts down or requires a hard power-off. Intermittently here is about once a week with normal usage. Upon restart it can usually restore the previous session - minus any incognito windows of course. This is mostly an obnoxious annoyance. However, for some percentage of these crashes (maybe 10% - once every month or two or three depending on usage it seems) ChromeOS is corrupted, won’t boot, and requires a reinstall from USB, loosing anything that’s stored locally and not backed up to Google, including any crostini container data and configuration. This has happened about 5 times so far. My suspicion was that there’s some bad sector of memory somewhere and being a device with only 4GB of memory, I hit that memory sector regularly, leading to the crashes and under certain circumstances the crash state renders the OS un-bootable and forces the reinstall. But this was just a conceptual guess. I have performed the ChomeOS built-in diagnostics and everything passed, including the memory.
After the last time it crashed and forced a reinstall a few weeks ago, I figured I’d contact support and see about an RMA. They gave me the info and instructions to send it to them, but it seems like I’ll be on the hook for it. Given how lame that seems, that the memory passed the diagnostics, and that it takes a week or two of regular use to trigger a crash and longer to trigger an OS corruption, I worry they’ll just take a quick look, see nothing wrong and either send it back to me or hit me with some fees to send it back to me.
Am I being unjust to Acer here or does this ring true? This device was cheap and is so low-end I’m weighing the possibility of getting stuck spending money to fix something that may not get fixed and is barely worth it anyway.

I’m a woman on the edge. I’ve been with my husband almost 10 years, married 4 years and we have 2 children, (2 and 5 months) Over the years we’ve had some terrible arguments. I’ve come to realise that my husband is a terrible communicator and very petulant.
I don’t know how to even explain his attitude and how he acts but here are some of the things he has done/does;

• He teases me. Sometimes I’m tired (full time mum) I try and be laid back and laugh it off as much as possible even if he is annoying me a little. He doesn’t like this, so he’ll ramp it up, then I’ll ask him to stop, he’ll continue until I do eventually flip, then he goes in a mood and ignores me for a few days. (Yes, days!)
  
• he blames me for EVERYTHING that goes wrong. Lost something? My fault, I must have moved it. Daughter fell over and bumped her knee? My fault I wasn’t watching her (she’s 2) Ran out of milk? My fault, why didn’t I realise and buy more at the shop?
  
• when something isn’t my fault he goes in a mood about it and is snappy with me, making me feel like it is my fault. For example somebody crashed into his parked car outside our home, the lady who did it came and knocked the door, was very apologetic and offered to pay for the damage. If she didn’t let us know, we wouldn’t have even realised it happened so I thanked her for her honestly and told her not to worry and that atleast nobody was hurt. After the lady left my husband was furious with me. We argued about it and he gave me the silent treatment for around 2-3 days.
  

These are just a few examples but this has been going on for years. I’m very laid back and let most things go over my head. Most of the time I don’t say anything to keep the peace. However, keeping the peace has resulted in me feeling like a punchbag. And I’m sick of it. I’m constantly pre-empting something happening and feel like I’m walking on eggshells 70% of the time. I’m growing to resent him. I’ve threatened to leave on a few occasions now. I don’t think he believes me and he just laughs and goes ‘here we go again’. This then just turns into further arguments and he ignores me for several days.
It’s no way to live and I’m so so so unhappy. I keep making excuses as to why I’m unhappy. ‘I’m just a tired mum.’ ‘Maybe I have PND’ ‘I miss my friends’ but I think deep down I know that I’m unhappy in my marriage and unhappy with him.
I really don’t know what to do. Whilst I’m not at all phased by being a single mum, I do worry about the effect it will have on my children, and I also can’t bare the thought of not seeing them (if we shared custody which we probably would). I know I can’t continue in this relationship the way that it is. I’ve done nothing but support him and have been there for him over the years, through good and bad times and it is not reciprocated in the slightest. Infact when I find myself in difficult situations he simply doesn’t want to know and offers no help or support.
I don’t really know the purpose of this post. I guess it’s a bit of a rant. For someone to tell me what I should do? I think I keep hoping things will get better but deep down I just don’t think they will. I’m so so close to just walking away.

Hi everyone, after having 2 kids in the last 3 years, my boobs have been on a rollercoaster from 28DD (pre-kids) to 28F (first baby) to 30E (second baby) to now maybe a 30D? or a 28D? Idk to be honest. I'll post my measurements.
The shape of my boobs has drastically changed and now they are EXTREMELY saggy, almost like hanging flaps of skin. Attractive description I know 😅 I've mostly been living in these in a size small for a long time.
I'd like to start wearing something nicer and more supportive. A big issue I am experiencing in any bra is that because they are so saggy they almost get "folded up" in the bra if that makes sense.
Anyway I went through my closet to try to find something nicer. This is the closest I got:
Freya 28DD (not sure what model) seems like a decent fit, some wrinkling/space in the top of the cup. Fwiw it didn't feel too tight in the band.
Wacoal Halo Lace Bralette in a 32? Literally a 32 is the size. Not sure what that's supposed to mean. This is the most comfortable thing I found. It doesn't look very supportive but it feels nice.

hi all, i recently took a drug test for a job and i had a very bad experience and i’m in search of some advice that could prevent it from happening again. to make a long story short, i tested positive for marijuana. i expected this because i use it regularly. when i left my last job, i registered as a medical marijuana patient in order for it to be easier for me to find work in the future, since my state (MA) has workplace protections for registered patients. well, the company that offered me the position cancelled my orientation due to the fact my result was positive. when i explained my disability and medical reasoning i was told that the lab that called me with my results should have asked for my medical documentation to prove this prior to them sending the results to the company. if the lab had asked me for medical documents i would have sent it to them but i know for a fact i wasn’t asked to send anything to anyone!! i was really disappointed by this and i’m scared of this happening in the future :( i was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or even some advice to offer. any response is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Let me start by saying I hate LoL, RL, DBD, GTA, Phasmo, DRG, CoD, Fall Guys, sports games, survival/horror and shooters, Acti/Blizz/microtrans, and 99% of the most popular games that you see here all the time. (But there's an exception to every rule, i.e. there's a couple survival/shooter games I enjoy and would possibly be down to play casually, occasionally).
I'm LF someone/something different from 99%-100% of the other post(er)s here. In just about every way. (Gaming tastes, ideologically, personality-wise, etc). I'm not holding my breath for this to go anywhere, as I've tried a thousand times in the past to no avail. But what the hell.. Got nothing better to do than keep trying...
I guess you could say I'm a semi hipster. I don't like super populaoverrated games and I don't like really obscure/underground games. Most of the modern games I enjoy are indie 'cause AAA is monetized, corporatized shit now. SNES/PS2/GC/GBA are still the GOAT consoles. A lot (not all) of the games I enjoy the most are 1P. But it's lonely as fuck and I'm getting really burnt out on playing games alone.
I want to find a daily gaming friend who's down to play a ton of different games, both old & new. Someone who's just as down to chill & chat & take turns on 1P games (via Parsec or Remote Play) as he is to play MP games (whether it's enjoying a good story-rich game together, introducing each other to our favorites, seeing who can get further on some tough Roguelike runs, etc). My favorite genres are RPGs (esp. retro JRPGs & Soulslikes) and Roguelikes. Anything with swords, axes, magic, class/build freedom, etc is usually a win with me.
My 3x3 (favorites) and most played Steam games are pinned to the top of my profile. Take a look to see if we have similar taste in games. But it's far from a comprehensive list. Just to give a very rough idea of my tastes. Also, the majority of the games I've been playing lately have been, err.. "acquired" elsewhere than Steam... (*ahem* ARRR! 🦜 *cough*) So please be down with that lifestyle.
Some of my personal criteria/nuances/preferences:
Prefer someone in NA, mostly for latency purposes.
I strongly prefer someone who's a total loner like me, and someone who has very similar taste in games ofc. Call me clingy or whatever, but many of my other attempts have resulted in me eventually just getting ditched because the person already has other friends who occupy a lot of his time and pull him to play other games that I don't play. I might be willing to compromise on a very small, tight-knit, non-cliquey group of 3-4 people.. But meh... Adding more people thins the pool of possible games we can play and I don't want anyone to feel like a third wheel.
I'm currently an unemployed bum trying to get my shit together, so I'm available all day everyday atm. I'm LF someone who's available to game more days than not, for at least a couple hours.
I don't care for people who are super quiet, awkward, shy, reserved, etc. I want to find someone who's talkative, personable, a good conversationalist, etc. No dry personalities. No people who only give short, curt responses like "yep" and "idk". No self-absorbed narcissists who make everything about themselves. And if you're the type who refuses to ever reach out first and meet me halfway, I'll ghost.
A sense of humor is a must, as I love to laugh and make people laugh. Moreover, a pretty dark sense of humor. If you consider yourself a typical redditor (self-righteous, easily offended, incapable of tolerating other people's controversial views, etc) then you might want to save your time and move along.

ACTIVISION removed Nickmerc's operator bundle because he made a statement disagreeing with the arguments surrounding the LGBTQIA+-? agenda being played out in our elementary schools. On a tweet showing the clash between protestors of the sexualized K-6 educational program being voted on, and agonists from Antifa, Nick posted a comment stating "They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue." Nick is a father and prefers to be the one teaching his children about sexuality. I agree that this topic should not be introduced by the government and at such a young age.
ACTIVISION chose to delete his bundle to show support of the radical educational decisions being made for our children, but this is the same company that disables all of their in-game gay pride flags for less tolerating middle eastern countries that they want to keep as customers. It is an outrageous hypocrisy and text book cancel culture so I have no choice but to cancel ACTIVISION. I play CoD daily and spend real money in the game and will miss my online friends.
Streamer Dr Disrespect immediately uninstalled CoD in reaction to the situation and I did the same. We must stand up for what is morally just and not be pressured by mobs, corporations, or big government.

I'm a 61F, with the following OOR results on recent routine bloodwork: RED BLOOD CELL COUNT 5.29 H Range: 3.80-5.10 Million/uL MCH 26.8 L Range: 27.0-33.0 pg RDW 15.4 H Range: 11.0-15.0 %
Post-menopausal with previous hysterectomy so no periods for decades. I did have a minor surgery approx 2 weeks prior to these labs. All other results for CBC were WNL.
Do you think these results should cause significant concern? I see only a small variation to normal limits (0.19 increase to RBC, 0.2 lower to MCH, and 0.4 increase to RDW).

I am in a deferred state. Got in/service events, nexus statements, lay statements and diagnosis/VA treatment. Yet here I am. All everyone says it’s neither good nor bad and that I’m still in it. I use this once, and only once as the catalyst for that articular painting.
Future Possibilities: As AI technology continues to evolve, I am excited about the endless possibilities it holds for artistic expression and collaboration. Artists like myself are at the forefront of exploring new ways to merge art forms, blurring boundaries and pushing the limits of creativity.
