Need to rant

2023.06.10 23:55 abondurant21 Need to rant

So I just need to tell someone about this. I refuse to talk to the person I actually need to talk to until after the weekend is over.
So I work in a restaurant that delivers food, and sometimes customers tip the people in store, as well. Sometimes if a customer tips a driver really well (like 20 dollars or more), the driver will decide to share some of that tip with the people that made the order.
Well, a couple of people have started to get greedy. Whenever a driver has a delivery with a big tip, they'll demand that the driver split the tip with them a certain way. Now keep in mind that the drivers make, like, 3-5 dollars less than people in store, and that's because the drivers also get tips. So with the people in store making 12 an hour or more and the drivers making less than 10 no matter how long they've been working here, the drivers make most of their wages from their tips.
Not just that, but they've also gotten greedy with tips they get in-store. Each shift we work should only be closed down once per shift, right? Apparently that's wrong. The greedy coworkers have decided that they want the shift closed down again before they leave so that they can get the tips that have been left in the last hour (which is like 3 dollars btw). And keep in mind, we never shut down the morning shift twice before. They've only started doing that a month ago.
So because I've seen what's been going on and I know how the drivers felt on the matter, I contacted the franchise owner. The only reason I didn't contact the general manager is because he doesn't really care unless it affects him in any way. And I've spoken with the AGM, but he would've had to speak to the GM first. So, I contacted the owner.
I told him I didn't want to sound like a snitching child for bringing this up, but these things have been going on for a bit. The drivers are, understandably, getting resentful because of it, and I know it's only going to get worse unless he puts an end to it. I told him I understand both sides of the situation, but I sympathize with the drivers more because they still have to upkeep their vehicles, and cars are expensive. What the greedy coworkers are doing borders on illegal.
Well, I got a response. The owner said he'll put something in place to prevent this situation and thanked me for bringing it up to him. I told him it was no problem, but that I would appreciate it if he wouldn't mention that I'm the one that brought it up, my reason being that if word got out to those greedy coworkers, they would have more issues with me than they already have. And I know that if they know, it's gonna cause some serious backlash.
But what I really want to know is if I did the right thing. In my heart, I had the best intentions, but I know that's not how others are gonna see it

2023.06.10 23:52 aalbzour30 OAT Breakdown May 25th 2023

OAT Breakdown May 25th 2023
Hello guys. I just took the OAT May 25th and I scored really well! I was going to take the OAT in April but I thought I wasn’t prepared enough and I didn’t get much time to study because I was finishing up my last semester of undergrad. Below is a complete breakdown of everything that I used and my test scores.
Study materials I used
OATBooster 10/10
This was the primary resource I used. The questions on the practice tests were very representative of what I saw on the actual OAT and they were a little bit harder which is good because that prepared me better for the actual test. Booster offered comprehensive videos and notes which covered everything that showed up on my exam. The organic chemistry videos were phenomenal and simplified everything that you needed to know. I highly suggest that you watch every video for orgo. The only thing I wish OATBooster had more of was physics practice problems with more videos that went more in depth into the material. Also I felt that the physics videos were slightly lacking because it only covered Physics 1, but the notes were really good. I also wish that there were solution videos on the practice tests for physics. On some of the practice tests, especially the biology ones, there were quite a few repeat questions on the actual OAT which I found to be super helpful.
Chad’s Videos 8.5/10
I only used these videos for some physics topics that weren't on booster. They were okay but there are better resources in my opinion.
OAT Bootcamp
I used the free full length exam which got me one more practice run before the actual test. The test was pretty representative and had good explanations.
Organic Chemistry tutor
I used his videos to go over some reaction mechanisms that were difficult for me to understand like the aldol condensation and Diels-alder reaction. I also used his physics videos on topics that I struggled with and he is really good at explaining the concepts and providing a method for solving various problems.
Official OAT Sample Test
I took this at the end so I can get an accurate score for the real thing. It is a good practice test that is the most representative of the actual OAT. There were also a couple of repeats.
How I prepared
I started preparing for the OAT early February by taking the free Kaplan diagnostic test (got a 300). In total, I spent about 3.5 months preparing for the OAT while following my own schedule based on what I was weak on. I spent about 4-6 hours per day initially going through the content and then I spent about 8 hours a day the month before the test to hammer down all the problems. I took a practice test every other week on the same day and time I was going to take the actual test and I started taking 2 practice tests a week the last 3 weeks before the test. I feel like I could have studied QR more and I wish I did more physics problems but I only got to complete the ones on Booster.
After every practice test, I would thoroughly go over every single question and take notes on what I missed. I divided questions into categories: 1) questions that I knew but put down the wrong answer because I didn;t read completely or ran out of time, 2) questions that I guessed on but got right, 3) questions that I kind of knew the concept but answered incorrectly, and 3) questions that I completely didn't know anything about the concept. This allowed me to focus on my weak points and go over any topics that I kept getting incorrect questions to.
My score Breakdown
Biology (Scored: 400)
This section was the easiest for me. There were a lot of physiology questions about hormones and systems such as the excretory system. There were also a lot of molecular cell biology topics about enzymes, cell structure, and the immune system. There were some genetics questions with pedigrees and predicting the outcome of a cross. There were a few taxonomy and evolution questions that were very basic and can easily be reviewed with boosters new videos.
Chemistry (Scored: 390)
I had mostly conceptual questions and a few calculation questions but nothing too bad. I like chemistry and did well in general chemistry in college so this is one of my strong subjects that I didn't spend too much time on.
Organic Chemistry (Scored: 370)
I was intimidated by this section at first while studying because I literally forgot all of orgo because I took it during the pandemic. I just used the booster videos from beginning to end and kept doing the reaction questions and the extra questions. My score started out at a 290 and went up all the way to a 370!
Physics (Scored: 330)
I was a little disappointed about this section because I studied so hard for physics and I definitely knew the concepts but I got bogged down by a couple of questions on the actual test and had to rush through some questions. I scored around 320-360 on the practice tests so I scored in the range. I recommend doing a bunch of practice problems and work on stamina.
Reading Comprehension (Scored: 370)
This section kind of surprised me. I was scoring 350-400 on the practice tests and did way better on the last practice tests. The actual one was a little harder with more specific questions that were ordered all over the place and more interpreting questions.
QR (Scored: 310)
This section was the hardest for me because I am not efficient with calculations and I get bogged down easily by hard questions. I also struggled with probability and some application questions. I recommend doing a bunch of practice questions and doing the guess and mark method when doing the practice tests to maximize your score because I wish I used that method.
TS: 380 AA: 360

Final advice
This exam is pretty tough and comprehensive so I say take your time with content review and do practice tests later. If you need to push back your test date, do it because trust me it is worth the 45 or so dollars that you have to pay to reschedule.

2023.06.10 23:44 InnerCabinet4941 Am I overreacting? I’m very stressed (product management). Bad mental state.

Need advice (product management). Bad mental state
Need some advice. Having some mental issues
New account to post this. I am in TX, have ~6 YOE operating in general management / analytics / product roles. Have been playing more of a traditional product role the last 2 years. Work at a very large public company. Have been at the same company for 6 years and have been a consistent top performer earning multiple promotions over the years.
I lead 2 product teams consisting of ~20 engineers, some designers, data engineers, data scientists and have a few product managers under me. Base salary is ~$170K with $20K bonus. Product I own is a portion of the user facing website.
I am not a traditional product manager. I was thrown into this position some time back due to being in the right place at the right time and the scope has grown significantly over the two years. All of that was fine until the last few months where macroeconomic factors are putting a ton of pressure on talent and we are pretty much forcing out the bottom 15%. It’s been a real punch in the gut sitting through these performance review sessions with stack ranking. Usually it’s pretty obvious who the bottom performers are, now the bar is arbitrary (but “rising”… whatever that means). We’ve started to hire Amazon execs in our product org and I can feel the culture shifting.
Here is my worry - I browse this subreddit and I am not like many of the folks here. I am not passionate about product, I don’t obsess about it. I am good at it, in my opinion due to my analytical skills & strong soft-skills & business judgment which usually leads to strong results. But now I’m starting to worry our culture is shifting and we will start bringing in talent that is just better than me. Maybe I am over reacting , but with the current economy I can’t help but look at our roadmap and wonder if any of this really even matters at year end, because if it doesn’t generate a bunch of money, who cares? It’s never really felt that way before.
All this to say, I’ve been working probably 70 hours/ week for the last year managing this department. Generally I am not very happy at work, but it hasn’t always been this bad in my 6 years.. who’s to say it won’t turn around once the economy is better (?). It’s gotten so bad that I had a pretty bad mental breakdown recently and I am starting to question my entire career path. I have talked with my manager and my performance is actually still very good, but at the cost of what? And will it be good enough going forward? It’s a lot of pressure. I used to be very happy at this company. The money is nice, it provides a nice life for me and my wife. But I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth it.
I have started to talk to my manager about switching to software engineering within the company. I have programmed on the side for a while now, but I would expect to be demoted quite a bit. Probably bringing my base salary down to ~120-130K. I have no doubt if I can build the technical skills that I can move up in tech as in product my life is filled with meetings, presentations, stakeholder management. Etc.. all things our engineers get constant feedback on that they need to improve. I also notice the WLB of our engineers is much better, most don’t work more than 40 hours per week. I like programming, it’s fun building things and I don’t have to think about business strategy and how to generate millions of dollars on a daily basis.
This is all probably just stress and I need to vent. I don’t know. I have never felt unsure and incompetent about my abilities before, but I don’t feel great right now.
If you read this whole story - thanks for taking the time
EDIT: I originally wanted to post this in product management but couldn’t. So references so see to that sub are because of that.

2023.06.10 23:16 Tacticalscheme What type of job for no experience new CDL driver

Got my free schooling approved and going in July. Buddy was working a dollar general account and making a ton of money ($2500 in a week his best week) but now isn't getting loads and is waiting around for multiple days not getting paid ($1400 last 2 weeks). I've been looking at other jobs now, local LTL/Tanker or Regional. I want something that will just get me my 1yr experience, the money can come later. I just want the experience, training, steady work history without working 70 hours/week or waiting around not getting paid. Being home daily would be a big plus but not required, I would be willing to go regional. With this in mind, should I work for a regional company a gas company or LTL? Also, any company recommendations are appreciated. Im located by Lincoln and Omaha Nebraska. Thinking about getting my endorsements straight out of school so I could possibly get a tankehazmat job as well.

2023.06.10 23:02 Leather-Delicious What the hell is going on?

I went grocery shopping yesterday for a few things to make Philly cheese steaks. (It’s probably worth mentioning I live in the Midwest—where the cost of living is generally considered lower than in the big cities on the coasts.) Anyway, $9 for 8 rolls, $40 for the steak, and about 5-6 for the cheese. The veggies were a few dollars but the price isn’t really my entire point here. It was my day off of work and I was willing to splurge a little bit to make a nice meal for my family. I enjoy preparing my own meals as opposed to paying for over priced food at restaurants, plus cooking is a coping skill for me. By the time I was done shopping (drinks/sides,) it would have been cheaper to dine out with the entire family. Now here’s where I’m lost, the quality of the vegetables horrific, it took forever to find an onion without some sort of rot on it. And there ended up being a fly in one of the packages of meat. I understand that we can’t control everything but my god, for that price you should at least get some quality in the product. When I start putting together everything I’ve been seeing or hearing about lately, it concerns me. I’m not going to name drop the store I was shopping at because every time in the past 30 year, I’ve never had a problem—the meat and produce is always fresh and local and the prices are generally not as bad. The way this system is set up is not working, I’ve seen so many post about workers being underpaid and undervalued; slaves basically. The younger generation is going to forget how to cook because it’s cheaper and more efficient to rely on somebody else. It’s like a whole system set up on taking away personal sovereignty and it’s set up so well that most people just go through the motions everyday without even questioning why everyone is in debt and lacks self autonomy. It’s a sad state of affairs. Parents, teach your children because the system is just teaching them to be dependent.

Does San Jose have those big (like the size of a shed) ice dispenser machines? You bring a cooler and it just dumps like 15lbs of ice for a few dollars. They are generally in the parking lots of grocery stores.
We had these where I used to live and I’m realizing I don’t think I’ve ever seen one here.

2023.06.10 22:49 Dangime The Hidden Message about Silver Within Sailor Moon

The Hidden Message about Silver Within Sailor Moon
While many of you may be aware that The Wizard of Oz was written as a monetary allegory for the financial politics of America in the 1890s, fewer of you are likely aware that another modern classic piece of media was also created to mirror the cyclical nature of monetary debasement in history from the solid foundation of backing by precious metals. That modern classic is of course the undeniably influential Japanese Animation 美少女戦士セーラームーン, Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn, or Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon.
Originally released as a manga that ran from 1991 to 1997, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon received an anime adaptation by Toei Animation that ran from 1992 to 1997. This was a period of economic turbulence for Japan which had seen a crash in its stock markets after decades of post-war economic growth. As documented in the book Princes of the Yen, Japan had run an economy and banking system detached from any hard money foundation for decades, sustaining such a system with continuous loan growth from the Bank of Japan, and by running a current account surplus through export of high value items such as electronics and automobiles.
However, as the 1990s progressed, demographic factors within Japan as well as competition from cheap labor countries like China contributed to a rapid decline in Japan's stock markets. A red hot real estate market which once saw the grounds of the Japanese Imperial Palace valued higher than the entire state of California collapsed as well and Japan entered into what came to be known as the Lost Decade, although adding an s to the end is now perhaps applicable since the stock and real estate markets have never recovered to the old highs of the late 1980s.The time was perhaps right in Japanese history for arcane knowledge of the monetary system to be delivered to another generation struggling with economic and political corruption.
Enter Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Released ostensibly as a shōjo or "girl" anime of the Magical Girl subgenre, Sailor Moon also found popularity amongst boys and young men due to the highly attractive feminine designs of the series main protagonists as well as the combination of action along with character development throughout the series. Sailor Moon found its influence creeping far beyond Japan's borders both in cultural and real terms. Sailor Moon saw an international release and is one of the series that is often cited as having put Japanese Animation into the mainstream of western culture at a time when only a handful of other Japanese titles had found success in the west. As of 2014, Sailor Moon had generated over $13 billion dollars of merchandise sales alone.
Analysis of the monetary interpretation of Sailor Moon can begin with its origins literally titled "The Fall of the Silver Millenium". Queen Serenity is the ruler of the Moon Kingdom and states that her goal is to aid in the evolution of life on Earth. In this setting the moon is depicted as a utopia with flowing springs and elaborate palaces. The source of the Queen's power is the "Silver Crystal'' which can release tremendous power, but takes a toll on the user when doing so. Much like Dorthy's Ruby Slippers which had been changed from the original Silver Slippers in the novel for the movie adaptation of the Wizard of Oz, the addition of "crystal" to "silver" can be viewed as an attempt at obscuration of the deeper meaning to avoid censorship from entrenched interests in governments and central banks.
The Queen's daughter, also named Serenity, falls in love with Prince Endymion from the Earth. However, their romance is short lived as Endymion delivers dire news about the state of affairs on Earth. Queen Beryl has been granted dark power from an entity called Queen Metalia, a shadowy entity that draws its power from the sun and was heralded by the appearance of unusual sun spots. Here is an analysis of the original Japanese names for these characters from Fanblog Tuxedo Unmaksed.com.
"Well, it’s to give it a double meaning. While it still sounds reasonably close to queen (and is treated canonically that way), it also looks similar to クリソ (kuriso; chryso). So actually, Queen Beryl’s name is more strongly connected to chrysoberyl. Just by looking, you can see that this stone much more closely matches the color scheme associated with Queen Beryl (gold), so it’s pretty clear that this is more likely a closer source for her inspiration than normal beryl.
That means that the chryso- connection probably also remains true for Queen Metalia as well, since her name is also written in the same (misspelled) manner. Since there's no substance known as metalia, we can rule out any special connection there other than it simply being a reference to metal, but with the chryso- prefix attached, it modifies the meaning to the metal, gold.
What that ultimately leaves us with is the villain, an evil queen born of hatred from the sun and named in honor of the mineral gold fighting against the Silver Millennium, ruled by the queen of the moon."
.
Pictured are the forces of the Dark Kingdom, equipped with golden shields
Gold has historically been associated with the sun, while Silver has been associated with the moon based on their appearance and the particular way each reflects light. Given this event is set in the distant past in the timeline of Sailor Moon, it becomes easier to see what this battle is going to historically. This points to the "Crime of 1873" where silver was demonetized by the United States. After the passage of this 1873 law, silver miners could no longer turn in their silver to be minted into silver coinage. This had a suppressive effect on the price of silver, which lowered in value compared to gold, which still could be directly redeemed for dollars. This effort at silver demonetization was linked to a larger effort by European banks which held bonds (paper debt obligations) and gold. Holders of bonds wanted to ensure deflationary pressures, which would maximize the value of their bonds at the expense of debtors, while the issuance of new silver coinage was inflationary. The net effect of this action was to hurt common people most likely to be in debt. The United States was still recovering from the Civil War, where the issuance of unbacked paper money "Greenbacks" had become commonplace.
"The inability to “cash in” silver bullion had the greatest impact upon miners, farmers and those who had debts to pay. The working class now had no feasible means to do so. Greenbacks could be redeemed for silver, but with the passage of the Specie Payment Resumption Act of 1875, the legal tender limit could not be greater than five dollars. The Act caused silver prices to fall even more than they previously had (due to oversupply), resulting in an increase in gold prices. It also caused the silver mining western part of the country to be at odds with the gold counting eastern part. The country was divided yet again." - United States Mint Website
This is the same fertile ground that the Wizard of Oz pulled its monetary themed inspiration from. However, for Sailor Moon, this is merely the introduction, the backdrop for the story going forward.
Queen Serenity manages to use the power of the Silver Crystal to somewhat mitigate the effects of the invasion of the Moon by the Dark Kingdom. While the Moon Kingdom falls and Queen Serenity dies from the extreme use of the silver crystal, she manages to thwart the invasion and seal the Dark Kingdom's power. At the same time she uses her power to see to it that Serenity, Endymion, and the Sailor Scouts who fell in battle will be reincarnated on Earth during a more peaceful era so they can live out happier lives. This is the real beginning of the story as we are introduced to Usagi (or Serena in English) who is the spitting image of Princess Serenity and is living in modern day Tokyo as an 8th grade middle school student. Somehow the Dark Kingdom has managed to return and is seeking energy in order to restore Queen Metalia to her full power. In order to do this they are attempting to locate the silver crystal, and in the meantime they settle on stealing energy from humans as a substitute.
Luna, a talking cat that had been placed in stasis since the fall of the Moon Kingdom, finds Usagi and warns her of the reemergence of the Dark Kingdom and provides her with a broach that contains the silver crystal. By using the broach and saying the activating words, Usagi is able to transform into Sailor Moon, a magical soldier capable of fighting the forces of the Dark Kingdom. Usagi is given the task of finding the Moon Princess by Luna. At this point it's not made clear that Usagi is indeed the Moon Princess, paralleling how the knowledge of silver and its use as money had been lost in the mind of the modern population. Luna also reveals that there are other Sailor Scouts that must be discovered that will assist her in the battle against the Dark Kingdom. The Sailor Scout's parallels as allies to silver only become more overt as they are introduced.
The first Sailor Scout to be discovered is Sailor Mercury. The substance mercury was also known historically as quicksilver. Sailor Mercury is introduced as Ami Mizuno, a genius student whom Luna immediately gives a portable supercomputer to assist in the hunt for the Dark Kingdom. While Sailor Mercury is a capable fighter, she more often uses misdirection and deception in order to aid the other Sailor Scouts in battle by filling the battlefield with concealing mist or illusions. Ami as Sailor Mercury represents the technology industry as a whole and its massive demand for silver. Silver is an indispensable part of microprocessors and the best conductor of electricity. As a result it finds a number of irreplaceable uses in the tech industry. It is hard to believe it is by chance that Ami and by extension the tech industry is the first ally that appears to pull silver out of its near universal amnesia.
The second Sailor Scout discovered is Rei Hino, Sailor Mars. Mars also makes an easy connection to silver through the Military-Industrial Complex's demand for silver. Mars of course is the Roman God of War, and Sailor Mars is depicted as a feisty, sometimes aggressive teenage girl with psychic powers who is at the same time steeped in traditional Shinto practices at a local shrine. Militaries around the world are more and more dependent on high tech weaponry in the form of smart weapons, high tech fighter planes, drones, and emerging technologies like laser weapons and mass drivers. One common example cited is the estimated 12kg (480oz) of silver that is used in the batteries and electronics of a single Tomahawk cruise missile.
The next Sailor Scout found is Makoto Kino, Sailor Jupiter. Sailor Jupiter's depiction leads her to have two possible connections to being an ally of silver. One is that Jupiter is representative of the large household consumer market. Jupiter is of course the largest planet and most modern economies are dependent on consumer spending. Makoto is depicted as the largest and physically strongest of the Sailor Scouts and of being conscious of this fact, as apparently some Japanese men find this unattractive in women. Makoto counters this by trying to be more stereotypically feminine, being depicted as having the best cooking and homemaking skills amongst the scouts. This is symbolic of household consumption, its outsized role in the economy, and the amount of silver it unconsciously demands through all its purchases. In Japan, the women of the household traditionally control the household budget and in the United States women make or influence roughly 85% of consumer purchases. Another connection to silver comes from the fact that all Sailor Jupiter's attacks are lightning based. Silver as mentioned previously is the best conductor of electricity and large amounts of silver are needed in various power generating and transferring applications, the most commonly cited would be silver as a necessary component in solar panels.
The final Sailor Scout to join the team is Minako Aino, Sailor Venus. Sailor Venus is associated with love along with her namesake the Roman Goddess of Love, Venus. There is a quick association to make here between Venus and jewelry-based demand for silver, the "love" trade. Silver is widely used in jewelry, particularly in lower income countries like India where gold is out of reach for most due to its relatively high cost. Wearable dowries made of silver are traditional in India as well, so much so that price moves in the metal can be seen seasonally during the wedding season in India. There is also something to be said about Venus being the last to come around to the group, and being the only Sailor Scout to be active prior to meeting Sailor Moon. Sailor Venus, known as Sailor V, worked as a crime fighting hero overseas alongside an Interpol agent before joining with the scouts. This makes Minako the only member of the scouts to be attached to any real world political establishment. Minako's goal is also to become an idol, a Japanese combination of actress and singer, which would put her in the media industry that is heavily controlled and influenced by the government. This implies too that the government is always last to accept silver's monetary role, but it eventually comes around and does so.
Now that we've introduced the heroes, let's get down to what the villains are actually doing in Sailor Moon. As previously mentioned, the Dark Kingdom is looking for energy to revive Queen Metalia, and the way it goes about doing this is generally by corrupting some form of commerce. Here's a few examples.
In episode 1, the Dark Kingdom sells cursed jewelry.
In episode 3, a radio station is corrupted and those who engage with the show by sending in love letters are sent cursed flowers.
In episode 4, a fake gym is created to steal human energy.
In episode 5, fake pets are sold that smell of perfume, but corrupt the owner.
Episodes 6 & 7 play on the music and idol industries being subverted.
This trend holds through the first half of the first season, with generally each episode being about corrupting some form of consumer activity in order to steal human energy. Now if you had to try to find a real world comparison for the Dark Kingdom, something that corrupted everyday economic activity and used its influence to steal power from people, what might it be? The obvious answer is banks. The influence of finance is everywhere in the economy and by controlling the terms of interest rates through central banks and the issuing of currency through either money printing or issuance of credit, finance has been accused of "ruining" any number of industries. It's fair to see how the Dark Kingdom is basically a stand in for the banking industry. They hold tons of gold in Central Banks, and no silver, while spreading their corrupting influence through every type of economic activity imaginable.
A slight variation in this theme occurs when a new villain is appointed by the Dark Kingdom and focuses on corrupting celebrities or high performing individuals instead of entire industries. Does any of this sound like real life to you, with celebrities that have no real background in politics or financial matters always having a loud opinion on them?
This continues until the final arc of the series where the reincarnated Prince Endymion (Tuxedo Mask / Chiba Mamoru) is captured and brainwashed using the power of dark energy to serve Queen Beryl. Prince Endymion is effectively representative of all of Earth society, being the only "good" Earthling we know of from the age of the Silver Millenium. Endymion is turned easily enough to fight against the Sailor Scouts, but always stops short of defeating them in battle, even going as far as actively interfering with the plans of other Dark Kingdom generals who are acting against the Sailor Scouts. Repeatedly these generals complain to Queen Beryl about Endymion's interference but each time she ignores as both her and Queen Metalia are obsessed with controlling rather than destroying Endymion. For Beryl, this is depicted as Endymion being a love interest, while everything about Metalia is more abstract, but Endymion is described as "Worthy of receiving dark power." This scenario is clearly representing the banking establishment wishing to control society at large as represented by Endymion. No matter how much "dark energy" (fiat currency, credit generation, money printing) Beryl pushes on Endymion (society) things never go exactly the way she wishes. Eventually the truth is revealed, Endymion regains his memories and goes back to assisting the Sailor Scouts, Likewise with the banking system historically, no matter how much control they seem to have over everything, eventually it breaks down and people return to true buying power in the form of silver.
The series culminates in a final showdown by the combined Sailor Scouts and Endymion against the Dark Kingdom at their base in the North Pole. Sailor Moon manages to defeat Queen Beryl who had become possessed by Queen Metalia, however in the process of using the silver crystal to do so, everyone involved in the battle loses their memories of the past battles and roles as defenders of truth and justice. This speaks to human weakness, or perhaps the cyclical nature of monetary systems and knowledge that is lost on a generational basis. It might not be strange for those of our grandparents or great grandparents generation, having lived through economic crises created by the banking system to understand the importance of silver and sound money in the financial system, only for all it to be forgotten by the next generation who have to learn the hard way again as the corrupting forces of banking and finance reimpose themselves on society. Sailor Moon does contain a strong generational theme with repetitive crises that while not exactly alike, certainly do rhyme, with Queen Serenity giving way to Usagi, and then Chibi-Usa (Mini-Moon).
The scenario that seems to match the above description the most is the crises of the late 1970s in regards to silver, oil, and the monetary system. Despite the US Dollar losing all metal backing and the price of silver hitting an all-time high, the market seemed to learn nothing and life as normal managed to find a way to continue, although not without leaving the future uncertain.
In Part 2 of this series I will investigate Sailor Moon R (Rebirth), the second installment in the Sailor Moon series for its hidden messages regarding the monetary system.

tl;dr Reddit's shutting down third party apps at the expense of usability and in the name of profit, and is acting like the Bureau in the process. Should we join the sitewide blackout starting on June 12th, be it for 48 hours or indefinitely, to pressure reddit to rescind these changes so that third party apps may continue?
Hiya,
As you're probably aware, many subreddits will be shutting down on June 12th through the 14th in protest of recent API changes announced by Reddit. These will charge relatively high rates above a certain threshold, similar to Twitter, and would have the effect of killing major third party Reddit apps. Reddit is not obligated to run features at cost, of course. And if the API is a financial burden, then it seems appropriate to have larger users share the burden. But charging rates that would be likely be several times in excess of what the average user brings Reddit in ad revenue, while forbidding third party apps from running ads of their own, makes it clear that they do not want to share the financial load. They want to kill competition to their official app. People who use third party mobile apps trust their app of choice over the official one for better user experience, mod tools, or accessibility features, and the official one demands much more of your personal data. The official reddit app does not play nice with screen readers on iOS, so those who are visually impaired have to rely on third party reddit apps instead. Even if you don't use a third party app, there's a good chance that a poster or commenter you liked does. One of the third party apps, Apollo, even got a name drop and other shoutouts by Apple in their latest Worldwide Developer Conference keynote, To lose these apps would be a loss to the community.

Reddit's "PR" Campaign

In the process to rolling this out, Reddit has not enkindled much, if any, goodwill, I'd argue. They've gone to blame the developer of iOS third party app Apollo of "excessive" API overuse despite staying within currently sanctioned limits. They have accused the same app developer of "threatening" reddit:
Steve (Steve Huffman, i.e. spez, Reddit CEO) : "Apollo threatened us, said they’ll “make it easy” if Reddit gave them $10 million."
Steve: "This guy behind the scenes is coercing us. He's threatening us."
Even after Reddit admitted on a recorded phone call that said perception was a misunderstanding:
Christian Selig (i.e. iamthatis, Apollo app developer): "I said 'If you want Apollo to go quiet'. Like in terms of- I would say it's quite loud in terms of its API usage."
Reddit: "Oh. Go quiet as in that. Okay, got it. Got it. Sorry."
Reddit: "That's a complete misinterpretation on my end. I apologize. I apologize immediately."
And then accused the same developer of gaslighting the community... with no evidence presented:
Steve: His “joke” is the least of our issues. His behavior and communications with us has been all over the place—saying one thing to us while saying something completely different externally; recording and leaking a private phone call—to the point where I don’t know how we could do business with him.
Christian: Please feel free to give examples where I said something differently in public versus what I said to you. I give you full permission.
It would have honestly felt better if they were just announcing that they were killing third party app access outright. But instead, we've been presented with a pricing structure that looks like it was meant specifically to kill third party apps, them acting like that isn't, and accusing third party app devs of being incompetent instead of asking themselves why others would want to use apps that aren't theirs in the first place. spez's latest AMA yesterday is only more salt in the wound, offering only token concessions so that a few accessibility-focused third party apps can continue unharmed, while other third party apps have announced their shutdowns because of these changes:
Apollo (iOS app): Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️
Reddit is Fun (Android app): RIF will shut down on June 30, 2023, in response to Reddit's API changes
Sync for Reddit (Android app): Sync will shut down on June 30, 2023
Relay for Reddit (Android app): The pricing is prohibitively expensive and it cannot be ad supported. And, even if you paid a subscription fee of several dollars a month to continue to use Relay, you still wouldn't have access to any NSFW content in it. My opinion is that they want third party apps gone despite saying otherwise.

The Bigger Picture

And these changes are not being done in a vacuum. Reddit has made other changes to take features away from this site and what people have built on top of it. Namely:
Spez said in the latest AMA that old.reddit, the original desktop website for reddit, isn't going away. Then again, Spez also said years ago that "The API isn't going anywhere", and while it isn't going away, it is going towards places that will be worse for us all. That, combined with a list of broken promises, as compiled by the mods of /AskHistorians, makes Reddit's word as solid as Drop Bear Repellent is effective, in my eyes (though Reddit has been making improvements, in fairness).

Should we do something in response to this?

Now, that brings things to this sub.
/evnova is a very niche subreddit. While new reddit is happy to claim we are within the top 20% of subreddits in size, we are ultimately about a 20+ year old series of abandonware single player games. Modders and wiki editors like SharkyNebula and developers like Peter Cartwright with Cosmic Frontier: Override keep this series alive, but things are generally quiet for the most part.
Over 4,000 subreddits have announced some form of shutdown in protest of Reddit's API changes. Most people on this website probably don't know this subreddit even exists, but together with several default subs, I am open to joining as a means to show that we are willing to sacrifice our place here in the hopes that the collective pressure with other subs will compel reddit to revise or rescind these changes, so that major third party apps may continue to exist and that their users - members of all the communities around us - may continue to enjoy them. As a site dependent on user content and volunteer moderation, Reddit is nothing without its userbase, and with a show of protest and maybe some bad press, perhaps Reddit will change their mind. If it doesn't work, then, well, it'll beat doing nothing and having it happen anyways, and I guess that'll shows how much reddit values you, the user. And with comments from the CEO like:
We’ll continue to be profit-driven until profits arrive. Unlike some of the 3P apps, we are not profitable.
If this goes through unabated, what feature will reddit put on the chopping block next?
Now, with all this wall of text said, I have said many times that I am an absentee mod here. I do not believe that I have the authority to unilaterally shut down the subreddit. So I come here to ask you, the memberbase: Should we join the subreddit blackout, be it for 48 hours or indefinitely until Reddit backtracks on their changes and allows major 3rd party apps to continue?
Please leave your feedback here. A decision will be made in no more than 24 hours based on what you think and say.
Thank you,
Tervia

2023.06.10 21:43 Lucky-Kangaroo-5634 Wow 🙄🙄

Wow 🙄🙄
So I’ve not really been watching her videos as long as some ppl have. It’s been maybe 6-7 months. I think it was right around Xmas actually cause I never seen the videos of her in dollar general talking about wanting to buy this and that that I’ve heard ppl talk about but I was watching em when she had decorated the Xmas tree cause I remember the video. I came across her from one of Katye Cowles videos cause I followed her since joining TT. Katye had used a comment from one of her videos and replied with a video. So I clicked around and made it to her page. With as busy as I stay I never really used to pay attention to her voice until a few months ago when others started talking about her accent coming and going. So since her comments are off and I can’t talk shit I decided to just go look around. I came across a video from 06/23/22 so almost a year ago. I almost didn’t think it was her cause of her voice. She had no accent or like change in her voices. I’ve literally heard her say she doesn’t mock anyone that it’s her real accent. Well I def call bullshit now. She talked so normal. Wasn’t acting country Hispanic preppy bitch or anything else she normally sounds like. This right here is once again LEGIT HARD PROOF that she’s a fucking faking scam con artist. Btw I’ve got more lol but if y’all get sick of me just tell me and I won’t post 🤣🤣….ps: hear the way she sounded like a complete bitch about the air spray? Why not say “please stop spraying that”. I’ve got 6 kids so I no how hard it can be but that’s no reason to be a cunt to kids. Pss: yeaaa ok we all no if he’s calling her babe he’s talking about babe the pig

Quebec area. I think eh.. um.. yeah, in specific, uh, area or what? yeah, I have to look it up. I'm not really sure. like, I know in Quebec region but was like five years ago.. it's fine, I think, yeah, I don't know ...like how severe it is... but there's, like, it's causing a lot of smog like in the US as well.. it's like going everywhere is all that I know.
[Note: some regions of Canada and the US had highest impurity rates globally from the particles in the air making the air dangerous for some people]
Michelle, they will be safe, yeah. thanks for the super chat. um, are they gonna start blaming me for the wildfires? yeah, I don't know. I mean, want to hold a vigil or what you like? the trim? it's a lot of the hair. yeah, the beard trim, yeah. thank you, uh Ali L, welcome to put your feet already [ __ ]. please, um, what in the kinky's going on okay?
we're in a room... welcome to budget piece and we're just like beeze, oh, I'm really behind... basic basic, it was smoky in Toronto. the air is bad really? well, I heard that it's bad.. like the small the the smoke or whatever...we got Eyes Wide Shut... that reminds me Andre Marie that was, like, one of my favoritest movies. favoritest movies ever! I love it. this is a weird hijab style... it was just like I had to get ready fast. so, I'm in the spare room right now. hi Ali L, welcome, welcome!
I know I haven't been going live really but ~oh my gosh~ we have so much going on in our lives and the new the pets are keeping me really busy. I have, like, a whole routine like I don't know how people do it with kids... like, I think I would die. like, I don't know if it's just like mentally I'm just not able to cope, with, like, too many responsibilities. because like taking care of home and then taking care of, like.... has been taking care... he takes care of me too... but you know what I mean? and then, like, Howie I have to spend time with Howie in a room by himself. he's he's in a room by himself now and the cat's in a room right now with her, like, food and water because we don't smoke with the pets.
like, you know at all... so um, so, then I have to like get up and like spend some time with howie... give him his vegetables, let him run around kiss him a thousand times and then Julia wakes up. Julia, yeah... welcome back guys! sorry I'm poor, that's okay... it's going to Wisconsin?
Julia cats are good at sneaking. I swear! I swear, she's snuck in the room when I was like coming in to see Howie. I didn't even know she was right behind me so she came in and she kind of just like just stared at him. but I think she...I don't know... she did one thing kind of weird like once, but it never happened again, so I'm okay with it, you know? I'm like, I hope it doesn't become a problem. she doesn't ...I don't think she likes the door being closed and me coming in here and paying attention to him. so one time that she was outside and I wasn't here she like pooped right up front of the door. I think it was like to say, like, "hey this is my territory this is my home, you little rodent" kind of thing but then ever since then she hasn't done it. like, she only did it once, I think, to like, assert her territory and then she just never did it again. she just, like, you know, poops in her box fine and she pees in her box fine and yeah... so far so good, mashallah. like. knock on wood but she's very very loving. she's like. I should have named her shadow she will not...if she's awake she will not...she, like, will not leave your side. like, she's the most loving cat. and if you, just like, you can... she's like a rag doll. like, you can just grab her and and hold her and just, like, and just like, she's just like... floppy and just loves attention and she's constantly....constant, constantly purring but she's also kind of naughty.
like, she's....when she gets the Zoomies, she freaks out and runs around everywhere, jumps all over the place and, like, she plays with things she shouldn't be playing with, you know? so it's like at that age she's, like a kitten right? so we have to like, um, you know, we have to, like, hold on. there we go... we have to feel uncentered. we have to, like, teach her you know? but she's... I say, you know, a lot, but she's like, she's so loving you know?
Hi Megan! so you think you can cats too well? yeah... my solid. what? well, my cheese salad? yeah hi pnv! yes, I hope you're having a good day at work. hi turbo toots! yo guys, yo Salah baby, baby... so yeah she's baby. how are you? do you love Julia? so she's adopting very well. my female cat gets mad at my own Grandma cat and she'll pee in the litter box extra messy. like, I won't even squat...makes a mess, yeah.... cats have strange Behavior sometimes you know? but yeah, I don't know. like, she's she's very hyper sometimes because she's just a kitten right? so I have to make sure to play with her a lot with her feather toy and, like, I have to like daily scoop out toys under the couch because she always gets them lost in there.
[Note: it seems Salah is teaching her basic cat care like a child]
sometimes if I open a bottle of water, like the cap, I'll just throw it. like, hey here's another toy that's not under the couch right now because and she just loves it!
foreign first class falcon getting a hair transplant... where in Turkey? you've always wanted to try that henna? thank you... yeah. it's really cool. I'm glad I tried it out. maybe next time I get it, um, I'll just get the uh,... it's like having a tattoo. like, it's a really cool... like, it looks like a really cool tribal tattoo or something I don't know? when I was watching her do it and it didn't take long at all. she's just, like, you know....
the Kitty's in another room while I'm smoking. and howie do have.... we the other day... I thought he was stuck in his tunnel but he was like, just listening or something... I don't know... because he put a bunch of his corn kernels in the tunnel overnight and he was just sitting in the tunnel, like, this like, like, stiff, like, a mannequin. so I started freaking out. I was like Howie! Howie! so I took all the tunnel apart and I'm holding it like this and he's in it and I'm like trying to go like this and he finally woke up and went... I hear horror stories you people scare me or like he could get stuck in a tunneling so here I am thinking oh my God he's stuck in the tunnel but no he can still, he still has so much room! he can turn around but ~uh oh my gosh~. anyway, I freaked out. that's like, the most exciting thing going on right now. actually Julie is the sweetest Beezer.
she's sleeping.... yeah, [reading comments in live chat] "my daughter has four cats and they were so picky that they each needed their own litter box". yeah... like, when I had the other cats like. we had that big litter box upstairs and then we had another one downstairs and because I was thinking like bbj's old, like, what if she can't make it? like, she had accidents a lot. because, you know, like, mostly starting when she got older. other than that, she was like a good cat her whole life, you know? and Sam no problems. but they ended up just using one litter box, so you know...
my fiance as a kid that honestly don't like... he doesn't even cover his poop. honestl?y Julia doesn't really either. she just goes and leaves it but so I go and I, like, cover it and then I scoop it. it avoids mess on the scooper. but she she gets the worst Zoomies after she goes to the bathroom. I always know when she goes and it's like, "okay, time to go get the scoop the Box" because she, um, I guess I'm keeping everything ultra clean now. and especially, like, you know, we have a smaller... it's smaller than my old place. so it's like you know if you don't ...the smell will just permeate as well. so yeah... she like runs around freaks out
I hear her go like she's so I'm going to the bathroom. people don't put leashes on their dogs. I want to go out. you had a Nashi zombies? yeah? wait... now she's are available right now in Canada, I'm missing out! no, the only matches I find here are coleslaw in them. like, Burger King is the only nashie. like, the Zoomies, I had to explain like salah never had a pet before, right? so this is all new to him so I had to explain what this is... Zoomies were... so I'm looking up Tick Tock videos of Zoomies. Like, he's like, is something wrong with her? I'm like, no, this is normal. check it out and, like, some cats get like the really bad zoomies, you know? it just happened in Florida? young and mischievous, yeah young and full of energy so...
I find smoking shisha makes you um thirsty. yeah, I'm going live a little earlier today because it's like 10 30 here and we're kind of tired. I don't know if you can tell, but I'm a little sleepy. so I don't know how long I'll be on but I wanted to say "hey" because I missed you guys. like, if I don't feel like if I don't go live for a little while, I feel weird. like, oh my God! I missed you guys! you know?
[Note: Chantal has pretended her chats and followers are her second family when she makes them dispensable and has a high turnover. It's a false audience relationship in this regard.]
I can't believe they have the the Nashi in Florida! what the hell?! that's so weird.... it's quarter after 11 here already. that's crazy! as you can see I haven't been able to quit shisha and I don't think I did I didn't do uh\, I didn't do a good mukbang today. so, I'm not gonna put it out. it was kind of boring. I don't know.... maybe I will.... maybe I won't... we'll see.
sorry for always adjusting this....these chiffon ones I could never... I love how they look the most but I could never fix them properly. they never stay in place.. even if I like put them here under my chin see? can you get lavender to smoke, relax you? [reading comments] I don't know can you get lavender shisha... but I think it's only fruit flavors... but I'm not really sure. the water looks good. yeah, these are the water towers in Kuwait. yeah, I just drink a lot of water. like, this is the water bottle water we drink. we buy, like, our whole wall is like full of like water bottles. even if we have a filter, it's like the water in Kuwait in the summer, like, I wanted to have a coldish shower right? I put the water on the coldest setting it was hot. Like I couldn't even shower it was that hot. it was like, so hot I had to wait till evening time to have a shower because the water cools down in the evening. but in the daytime if you want to shower be prepared for the hottest water! it's so hot it was like it felt like 45 degrees today. so... but the AC and the new car is really nice.
Michelle.. and um, we, had like a slush today but I'm not sure about the lavender. Golden Girl, good question... um what did I have for dinner? actually I ate KFC because I was craving it and they have this new flavor of like chicken it's like Flamin Hot Lays and they have chicken tenders...and I had these twisters... and you know I tried to mukbang but I was just, like, in one of those moods where I'm like, what does it look like I'm wearing? shoulder pads? what the heck does it look like I'm wearing shoulder pad?....um, just like a really tired,hot.... not in a really talkative mood. kind of, like, I am now... so I'm like, I should probably do a live stream, you know? I don't know ....I, I really, just yeah.... I wasn't really in the mood. so I was just, like eating kind of quietly and I think most people um.... what was I gonna say? like, like, conversation with my videos, you know what I mean?
what month does it start getting the hottest? um, I don't know.... babe, what like month, like April... no the hottest actually probably like June? July? like it's gonna be like now but it's gonna get like I think even hotter.
[Note: Useless fact: The longest day of sunlight is on or around 20 June. It takes the earth 30 days to absorb and emit the heat so hottest days in many regions in the northern hemishperes is on or around 20 July]
so why he jumped his face like as big as FFG?!! LMAO! not even close! [Laughter] sorry... but it's true... this is, like, this is material all bunched up by the way but yeah I have a double chin.
July, August, September... um September too? oh great so we have... so here it's like reversed in Canada. the longest season is winter and here is summer [Note: Wait until Chantal learns about the equator]
thanks Golden Girl! thank you! remember this lip gloss... it's the...you guys remember when I went to buy this the Estee Lauder one? um will be 50 to 60. does it hit 60 like every summer? oh my God! I can't imagine... like, I have to go outside even for just a minute to experience what 60 degree weather is like... and we have to do like a test... like, I want to do that fried egg test. we have to put an egg on the pavement and see if it fries... but you know I can go peek my head out come right back in the building because the building is well air conditioned...like even downstairs in the lobby.
I don't know where people get this idea that we don't we don't have AC. it's not like...it's not a third world country um...there's AC everywhere and actually there's, like, um, I don't know like people put charity water tanks all over the town, like, different parts of each City. so, so, like, you can have clean drinking water and then there's like tunnels with like AC so people can have a break and walk through the tunnels instead of being outside. so there's, like, a lot of Refuge... is it respite Refuge? I don't know what word I'm looking for.... there's a lot of.... like, you get a break from the Sun.... if you even just going into malls, like, all the malls are very well air conditioned. um, so I would not be able to, yeah that's hot... I would not be able to survive here without AC. even Salah you will test it and we'll be grilled.
I remember one morning where one morning we woke up and he opens the curtain... actually, we do this every morning, like mashallah, I have to say it...we, we open the windows and we see the the beautiful ocean view.. and I'm like, one time I was like okay.. let's go out and he was like if you go out at this time you will be Chicken on coal! so, we have to wait until a certain time like after 4 or 4 30. I'll melt like cheese.
I wonder if I put cheese out if it will melt... hi Anastasia! sunblock will be useful...yeah, I need to get some, babe, true. creepy comfort and crime, [reading live chat] oh I just seen you... I just saw you ready...welcome, welcome to the very important users! thanks for becoming a Beezer!
yeah and I don't think that I'll be experiencing a winter, you know? not an all gun wood for like the next long while so I don't know when I'll go back to Canada for a visit.... but if I do go back, I'll be like a tourist right? because I don't have a place there anymore so, well it'll be weird be like a a Canada tourist.
[Note: Chantal doesn't understand her own citizenship status with Canada because she doesn't have a physical mailing address or residence. However, she is still a Canadian citizen].
cheese melted 'michelted'... you want to watch a horror movie, babe? I don't know... I might fall asleep but that's okay... what's a good horror movie from like the 2000s that we have? I don't know...
we tried finding "the ring" [horror movie] but we couldn't. why don't we last watch? oh, escape room one and two? those are good movies there's Escape rooms here but they're expensive I tried it several times to fry an egg here in Kuwait and it was successful. really?! no way?! you just leave the egg thereafter and like animals will eat? [reading live chat comments] a day when I lived in Vegas when I was in high school, I fried an egg in the street... no way! it gets hot like that? and it's just, like, are there some states where it gets super hot like Texas... say in Vegas.... I guess Death Valley is one of the hottest place... is quite hotter than Death Valley.. I'm happy to not see you in winter in Canada again.
yeah ...that's true... you leave a for the winter that's smart... that's what, yeah, my, I have family members who do that. Anna, hi dream! Insidious is good.. he watched... I don't think he liked Insidious. I don't know why... he likes more gross movies we watched a really gross zombie movie called "yummy"... oh my God... but it was pretty good movie, I guess. but just like one of those movies I'd only watch Once... don't ask me about security emoji. I can't believe the last horror movie watch was The Exorcist and it's like in the 70s that's so long ago...
[reading live chat again] it gets really hot in Vegas... really? like over a hundred? The Descent, oh, is that about a monster? I'm Chucky hi I'm Chucky you want to play no Chucky I want to burn you in fire and lava seriously I would drive and throw him in a volcano and then you go home and he's on your bed I'll burp I'm waiting to murder you God The Descent I think I watched it a long time ago you know what's really creepy? okay, the catacombs, like stories about the catacombs freak me out... like, all those tunnels under Paris? imagine getting lost in there! you'd be dead...you slept with your parents? I used to get scared and sleep with my mom too... she was like come on now there's nothing! you know, your parents get annoyed? no wonder... they probably want to break from us. I don't blame them. it's about the group of girls in a cave... ah but there's like a monster right? I think should I tell the Tank Engine ~oh my God~ that is my favorite picture! can you send it to me by emails? like, and [laugh] oh my God ~ actually the Crypt ~oh babe look at the picture [Music]
oh my God! that made my day! my potato face, choo choo, that, you know, what Thomas the Tank Engine used to be my one of my favorite shows as a kid... and Babar, potatoes ~ oh my God you're living like 15! oh I live in central California and it can get to 112. you that's hot! we will watch Descent movie... okay that I think that's I saw, that movie oh
Cassie oh my God! I need to quit smoking... I can't even [laugh] no oh my God that's so funny! all righ,t that's a perfect picture. I love that! I don't know if that was meant to be hate, but it made me laugh. so like my magnet, I found one of my abayas that's been missing. it was in the suitcase. we haven't unboxed yet. I keep forgetting ...do you unpack this one suitcase finally? did it you know... the hardest part of um putting together your home is organizing. I like finding, like, nice containers and all this stuff. I got um these nice little baskets, little baskets to put under the TV so we can put all our stuff in there you know? like watches and stuff like tha...t Chargers and especially we have to cat proof the home so, like, every, lik,e even this.
I'm not gonna put it take it off and I'm not gonna put it somewhere because the cat will lose it... remember I used to have that problem with the bees or Cuts I had with um with Sam and BBJ with my earrings? I would always only have one... yeah hi Cassie! did you uh forget your biscuit again? yeah ,thank God my family's okay now... but uh you know I'm kind of worried... like, I don't know the fires are getting bad eh?
pretty sure what New York looked like yesterday from the smoke... no, I have to look at all this up. I guess I've just been really self-absorbed. I haven't really been paying attention, but yeah are there wildfires like every year in California or like, the Wildfire is just like, remember how bad they were in Australia a couple years ago... a few years ago? I had a lot of beezers and viewers then in Australia. I was worried... about there's a lot of school and outside activities canceled? oh wow! that's bad! I'm sure the kids love that! hi blacks, hey long time no see! I missed you guy,s you know ?I used to pray for some kind of natural disaster when I was in school years... anything to get out of going, you know, like, are you sure the buses are not canceled today? you're still going I'm getting great, like, one before my mom had a car I'm getting Grandpa to drive you ...no I don't want to go to school [Laughter]
I used to pray for any illness... I know it's bad, but any cold any flu you... now I even remember like being in class with some kid who would be sneezing and you could tell they're getting sick and I'd be, like, you know, they'd be, like, okay, pick a partner for your for your uh project? okay, I want to go with the sick kid so I can catch his flu so I don't I can miss school. uh anything I hated, I hated going... I hated getting up in the morning since I was born. I was even late coming out of the womb, like, my mom had to have a C-section. I didn't want to come out... I was late... I was supposed to come out... mine was I supposed to be born I think the 26th... Kelly's pretty bad but it's been cool, like a cucumber...really how much snow? oh, it has to be like 30 centimeters or more for them to cancel school well it has to be a lot.
[Music] oh the flyers in Nova Scotia
[Laughter] the other options of school was wishing for a disaster... yeah, I was like please give me the flu! everyone's getting the flu but me, I swear it must have been the Papaya juice my mom used to give me in my lunches. I hated Papaya juice. I don't think I ever told her and just suffered in silence... a lot of vitamin C... give me the Capri Sun! it's very smoky where I am in Northern Ontario jeez lemon mint, cough, hey where were you I've already been... I've already been.
coughing what the [ __ ] I swear... I ate it going to school like, honestly, whenever, like, my mom would check and I had a fever, I was like "yes" because like when you're young, you think you're Immortal... you don't care if you have a cold, you know what I mean? you don't care if you have a fever... you're like, whatever, I can survive this now. well now I worry a bit... you know? I was born at uh yeah warmly I have a dark sense of humor .I was born at 4 30 in the morning. I blame that! I'm being a night owl, yeah... I was born just after midnight explains a lot. Julia's so cute! how is she? I know everyone is going through it but I'm going through it. you only... oh we're always setting you positive energy blocks... hope you're okay, what's up? you can share with us
um Julia is amazing she's just a Beezer she's a bit of a Beezer and uh but she's so cute and she's so cuddly. like, he's probably the the cuddly she's even more cuddly than BBJ if that's possible. early morning babies are babies born between 4 AM and 8 AM grow up to be persistent. they are generally intelligent and always prepared for different situations. they might face... wow do you know what time you were born babe? that I'm not in that category at all... so I was born what who has a dark web passport what the heck I'm so out of the loop
oh what did Golden say? oh Southern Ontario it is really widespread? yeah, that's what I heard but I didn't know how bad... oh my gosh! it's your husband's birthday? happy birthday zero support! that can be tough.. we're here for you... honestly, like, I like ,to beeze and like why not? we're all humans we all go through hard things. even though we're on the internet doesn't mean that we can't share and you know, be here for each other. you don't even have to explain what's going on all you need to say is you have you're having a hard time you know? to be born during business hours you're, like, I'm not being born during business hour,s mom you got to make those bucks! oh okay, since you've had a date, uh are you like the type that doesn't, you know ,what? getting a babysitter is not that easy... I know, I remember my mom trying to get a babysitter sometimes for me. it was hardened the babysitters I was left with. sometimes remember I told you my story times about one babysitter Beth. ew. yeah
I had some bad babysitters I always tattled on them and never had to see them again. though, so that was good, but yeah it's not as easy you know, it's not as easy as that what people are displaced oh my God. well Canada is really big... there's a lot of places to go but not if the fire's spreading that far. that's crazy !I really hope that everything people stay safe and everything goes well "we have two kids and one special needs so hard I just need a flip a couple of hours sometimes I just don't get that I love my girls but I hope no one takes that out" [reading live chat again]. yeah hey that's totally understandable.. it's very overwhelming... you know, you do your best but he got burnt out. like, caregiver burnout is a real thing... and actually when I worked in healthcare, we used to have a lot of people who would go into homes just to help with respite for people who were burnt out, you know? so at least you recognize that maybe there's some kind of like organization like that you know......Tracy, 18 months? oh my gosh! hi Tracy! I'm glad to see all you beezers here these stats are not accurate but we have to say it yeah, yeah, babe...you set her hair on fire oh my gosh that's Criminal! did you go on a group home after that?
I'm so protective too so that doesn't help uh you just don't let anyone go in yeah I understand. that, you know, you're leaving like loved ones in the care of strangers so it's hard.
hello Tracy! oh that's sweet babe! Maya lobby with your side and bless you sweets. parenting is hard yeah, like you know, I couldn't even imagine! I'm having a you know, like, being a pet mom is challenging. sometimes, honestl,y I couldn't imagine because some universities provide daycare at affordable rates.. that's true... my University had a daycare... excuse me, um I'm glad I never had to visit you know? something about daycare is creep me out... I remember being in daycare, like, I remember the smell of like old microwave dinners the cots... the cots that we had to take naps on. I had to go to a daycare after school and they made us have a nap every, every, every class. I went to as a young kid. there's always a kid who pukes. I don't know why, but there's always a pukey kid. sometimes I was a puke kid on the bus and then they always made us play with this like water and cornstarch mixture daycare. oh I'm glad I'm an adult as much, as... as much as life could be crap when you're an adult I don't miss being a child.
hi Katie Katie! she lost a few strands thank you guys, to see each event! hey, you're in the right place the hen is not itchy like thank goodness. you know, because I did look it up and apparently people have more issues with the block. which I didn't know... but they made me sign a waiver and I was wondering why. but now I know allergies... but oh thank goodness. yeah "I love being a mom but it can sure be hard not having any yeah not having any support" is definitely tough for sure, thanks Fox! yeah permanent is harder for sure... you'll have to replay later yeah I've been on for about 47 minutes.
what's Loch key, hey Chloe ,Tabor! am I saying that right? welcome, welcome! We're Gonna Save beeze hello! oh yeah Ali's a new Beezer. I missed the economy when I was a child. now I'm working everything... ye,s you're right. the economy was and it seemed people back then like in the 80s you know, um, from the I was born in the 80s... so old oh my gosh, everything was different, you're right. like, people had, like, you know? were able to sustain a life with jobs. you know, like, I don't know the quality of things just seemed better. I don't know how to explain it... like, even I don't know... maybe I'm not remembering that right. whenever you're a kid everything is just like the world is like mysterious. now when you start learning everything about it... it's like, you know,... well before I became like, religious, there was a huge period of time where everything just felt hopeless and meaningless... and I was like atheist for a point and I was like what the heck is the point of this, you know?
it's so mundane and tedious and you know... and now it's not like that wine and grapes come.. company yeah bringing up children because you're always having to dedicate all of your time to them. like, you're responsible for the bringing up of a whole human! like, that just terrifies me... like, even having a cat... hi witchy! hi beaters! sommelier! that's what it's called... nice that's interesting but if you can, you're strong you seem very strong .blacks so, if anyone can do it, it's you. I don't believe God gives us anything more than we can handle and honestly? even though it tests our limits, like, I don't know if people just think everything is just going to be sunshine and rainbows all the time. like, life is how can we be tested as people, if we don't go through hard things, you know, so it's just I see things in a very different perspective than I did even just last year, you know? and just getting rid of that hopeless feelings um helps me deal with depression in a lot of ways... there's a lot of ways I try to deal with my depression. um instead of ignoring it, uh, there's still a lot of things and tools I could use... but I find that my faith medication and just proper self-learning techniques of how to deal with anxieties and things, you know ,more emotional intelligence... that I'm really trying those things have been really, really, really hard to learn.
oh my gosh! yeah, I heard they're insane on me. that's what we've been saying! just bought Resident Evil 4, Jack ...nice have you been playing? have you started playing? I didn't know you were a gamer... no, I don't go to therapy here. therapy is ridiculously expensive here ridiculous like I think well from what a research I did it's like very very expensive like very but not just that um it's I guess I just cope with like learning like watching a lot of videos... reading a lot about emotional intelligence, coping techniques. like, this social media can be very useful for educational things. like, that um also I you know pray a lot and turn to my faith read the Quran and just, I don't know ...I feel like I've matured a little bit in that way, you know? an online therapist? that's like, yeah, I keep forgetting about that... move a TV? oh my gosh it must be strong! I think one therapist I checked was like 500 K.D that's like two thousand dollars, unless I got that wrong. maybe it was 500... I don't know... definitely give that to the when I when it piles on. just gets a lot it... does health issues it just piles on? yeah it seems insufferable. so like, uh, insurmountable sometimes content over meditation how you cope with negativity that's a good idea, thanks, Jack. thanks guys for noticing... he used to be a gamer what's your favorite all time? I don't know if I'm... in a minute... I'm gonna check it out again, actually and see. because I was a while ago. I checked... I don't even know if I have it right. but I remember being expensive a lot more than Canada.
Korean Pizza what's on that? I have an online there like uh Korean Fried Chicken. I have an online therapist and it's been good not sure how much it would be in Kuwait. though yeah I'd have to check the Korean. I've heard of sushi Pizza, that sounds gross to me. has anyone have sushi Pizza? reading the Bible, yeah whatever.... reading whatever religious text that you follow can be very calming, yeah... even just like when you're praying... it's like calming. Resident Evil 2 right here... another Resident Evil fan! Salah your favorite is Resident Evil 4 right? because you love Ashley so much. Sushi burritos, whoa, "you can't take care of others with an empty cup" that's true, yeah... that's why they say you have to take care of yourself first, but I mean how realistic is that? it's so hard to do ,you know, to find time for yourself when it's just constantly like, you know....
I can't even compare but even with a kitten like I forget how much work they are because I was so used to having adult cats, you know? for a long time but I remember, even BBJ was a Beezer. Sam was a Beezer, you know ,and you have to cat proof your house. you have to keep an eye on them when they're awake, and sometimes when she's sleeping, I'm like oh finally! you know? like, she's not busying because like I have to like get up so many times to like make sure she doesn't get to the through. Like I have to hide every wire.. every everything, everything in the house. but she's worth it... actually gross, okay Golden Girl, no problem. short rib pizza? oh my gosh! that sounds so good! yum! yeah happy birthday to him... I'm so proud of you having a higher power and seeing purpose. do you drink ever at all or no drinking? a Mormon? oh really Chloe oh you were Mormon? um no I don't drink anymore... um any kind of um mind-altering substance you know is is like forbidden it in Islam. but um CBD is... is okay though because it's not like mind-altering. but drinking is definitely... drinking is like illegal here. you won't find... you won't find out any legal alcohol here. I don't know about illegal... I don't know anything about that... but you won't find any legal alcohol here. you know,
oh my God ,what did you do all day? well it depends on the day lemon mint. I mean, like, a regular domestic day? is that what you mean? because it just depends you know, like, I... I'm planning on doing some day in the life of videos. Maybe. you know but you know, it just depends. depends on the day. um regular domestic stuff most days you know taking care of the pet the pets keep me busy um you know cleaning just stuff. like, that doing videos talking to family. we go out sometimes, go run errands. go get coffee. go get dinner. whatever. go to the movies ,stuff like that. how's the beezing kitties? she's so mischievous I do give her already some kind of chicken Pate she loves it... hi baby...alcohols... yeah, I believe that too. more dangerous than media need a Beezer membership buddy. yeah, I really haven't can't believe I haven't come up with merch yet.
hey babe, hi baby... what's up for you, baby? oh did she give me a creepy chocolate. hi, I miss you... you're so handsome. I love math thank you, honey. I think it looks cool. what kind of mask is this guys? is this the Anarchy mask? I like your hair guys.. don't tell her it's Secret [Laughter] it's that V for Vendetta mask isn't it? you ever see that movie V for Vendetta? no, foreign Edition? ah, yeah, I think it is vendetta. The Purge has started. chocolate creepy chocolates, thanks babe. I didn't know we had any more of these. I thought we ~I~ ate them all. I'm kidding! are you alone there without me? yes, I'll come soon. software on it, love you, love you most, love you mostly look pretty. Tracy we were actually... we were out shopping and he's like what do you think of this mask? it was like a store with all masks in it. this is a milk. have you ever had these? they're good. I'm gonna try.. I'm not really hungry. I had too much to eat but hmm I put your tea and sasqually... my God she's a pig... foreign I go through like two of these a day! it's not diabetes I should do a review of Quake snacks, yeah. because they do have a lot of different ones. like, you've seen some of them in my grocery hauls you know the pop pops? they have a lot of like a lot of things... a lot of things are flavored with zatar you guys know what that is? around oh.
[Laughter] Julius here hi!
hi baby, oh, oh she doesn't want to be held right now. hi, honey... she looks like church... hi baby... let me holder better.. okay. honey it's okay. it's okay. it's okay.... she might be scared of your man... she's purring. oh really? oh baby girl
hi sweetie oh you're a sweet girl here oh poor girl okay yeah yellow.. say bye. say bye! yeah I sing to her. you kno,w the song, um the queen hi! to me vintage SO thanks Chloe! my shisha's done anyways. so you want a Calico? she looks like church from um pet cemetery. her eyes the same color. she's so she's so cute anyway.s um oh yeah so you want a fat ginger cat and call him Garfield? zatar is like a seasoning made out of like Thyme and like I think sesame seeds. I don't know, lik,e exactly what's in it... but it's mostly made of thyme so it's really tasty. actually I want to go cuddle Julia now. she's... but she eats a lot. she eats a lot mashallah. she eats a lot she has a good appetite on her. she's so small. I think kittens eat more right? because they're growing but we feed her wet and dry and I give her some cremo treats. those creamy treats, she really loves those. so yeah that's Julia next time I'll show you Halloween Howie try sumac yeah, I have tried sumac before. like, in babba ganoush and stuff. it's like sour a bit. eh or something.. I don't know... I know what I know what it tastes like... I need to whiten my teeth or just wear red lipstick. look what you have here Harry he's here on this side is here on this side. hi Emily! let me grab him for the cage
[Music] hi Emmy here he is oh you big boy Hey Big Boy
[Music] oh Howie don't fall out there's a cat now! I'm kidding! hi everyone! rattler I love you so much, you big fat boy! damn son, he's cute. say "bye, hello, bye-bye yellow" back to your home. he doesn't want to get off my hand yeah it looks like a final grumpy Haggard rat freak and oil thanks, babe. vitamin C, really? I didn't know that, she's cut...e you don't want to come off my hand because he doesn't want to go back in the cage. is that a rat? I'm gonna tease him now. are you a rat are you a mouse are you a hamster? I always say that to him he's a hamster. but he looks like a mouse. I don't know he's a freak of nature. I don't know what to say but yeah he's um he's so cute. I love him he's my big boy, Howie! I let him run around and he was Beason... he got he kind of got stuck under the door but no not actually stuck but he was trying to get out. he's a ratster. oh my God, yes... are you a register? he looks like a hamster to me, yeah. he's like a big chubby hamster and he likes to just like, we this is the second wheel we get him. so we got him a wheel and we moved all the hang out of the way and it's turning fine. you know, the guy at the store was even like, this moves really well. so we put the new wheel inside and remember, whenever we got first got him, he was in that little cage? he was playing on that little wheel but this feels way bigger instead. of he doesn't like that it moves. he doesn't like that it moves so he went out of his way to move the hay, all the hay I took the trouble of moving out for him he put it all back to so that the wheel would be stationary because he likes to sit in the wheel and clean his bum, so he likes to have a clean bum cleaning station and it has to be stationary. he's got his own little like hamster rap personality. he likes to go to the bathroom in one corner. um he chooses wood. he loves his corn. any I have a medley a hamster food medley with like all different nuts and seeds but he only eats certain things. and I could tell when he's had it like I have to replenish his food because only these little grain. he doesn't .I think there's like quinoa... I'm not sure. there's like these tiny little circle pellets he doesn't like them. so he leaves them. he only eats the the certain things inside the medley. he's so picky and weird. I don't know he's a weirdo. That's What I Love About Pets. they all have their own like different little personality. you know personalities? chinchillas they're so cute... yeah they had some at the pet store. I couldn't believe some of the animals they had there! like they had meerkats. they had tucans, like, some people have pet tucans. they're very demanding like, like, having having an exotic pet like that?
anyways guys I think I'm gonna go because it's like late here and I want to go to bed and you know, relax. getting some coffee PJs? oh excuse me... Birds scare the crap out of you, really? I love birds. you have weasels? get out of here! like, the weasels from um Roger rabbits? does Harry still get to run? yeah like he's most of the time in this room, I only came in here to smoke but I don't have my shisha... finish I think it's finished um other than that every day like twice a day. first I come in replenish his, like, spot clean, give him some fruits and vegetables. replenish his Kibbles. then I take him out. he always comes out of his little hay hen and goes like he knows I'm in here. and then I let him run around. and there's like still Parcels in here from moving and stuff. he likes to climb them like they're Mount Everest for him. he's weird. I don't know who he climbs but he likes to run around and then I put him back in attend to Julia. then I come back at night and let him play a bit, you know? but I have to stay in here like I don't.. I could let him stay but I don't know I prefer to just ever since he tried to get up the bottom of the door. I watch him now that I'm in here. he can't be unsupervised he's not trusted. he lost my treasury, so I just set up the gaming station and just watch videos or whatever preferable. if Julia's asleep because she gets very Territorial and like, jealous if I'm in here with the door closed. so kind of thing, anyway... it was nice chatting with you guys um thanks for watching me play with my hijab for an hour uh yeah so what was I gonna say.
I guess that's it, I'm tired. so um thanks for beezing and I hope all of you guys days get better and easier and we'll chat next time. I guess, yeah, um maybe next stream I'll try to think of something fun to do. I like just coming on here and just chatting though really I don't know I like just talking and socializing it's like a form of socialization for me I guess but yeah my beezers so guys thanks for a reason without a reason that's what I'll call it be then without a reason um and I'll see you in my next video or my next live stream so toodaloop, bye guys.

2023.06.10 21:31 Borzadatan Teacher and Life-long Democrat, switching to Republican party because I think Republicans hate teachers less than Democrats.

This is my opinion. I'm curious if you can relate, so I'm putting this out there. I'm a relatively new teacher, I live in California, I work for a public school district, and I am switching my party affiliation from Democrat to Republican for the first time in my entire life solely because I am so utterly disgusted with the way Democrats treat teachers, and I have come to the conclusion that Republicans hate teachers less than Democrats do. As mentioned, I'm a relatively new teacher. I've taught for a few years now, have received only positive evaluations, and the entire school community has really embraced me. It's a really nice feeling, and I'm proud of my efforts. I really enjoy helping students, and find the job, overall, very challenging, and also, at times, very intellectually rewarding. I'm not entirely sure if I'll remain a teacher or not, over the long haul, given the low pay, other potentially more rewarding, interesting employment opportunities, the lack of interest in focusing on Academic Learning, particularly among Democrats, the current climate in our schools, an overall lack of professional support and respect from some students, parents, and administrators, and considering how I may wish to spend my time. I've completed new teacher "induction," and have taken the many, many, many, many overtly bureaucratic, costly barriers that Democrats have championed, including: a Teacher Credentialing program, two semesters of unpaid Student Teaching hours, the CSET, both CalTPA1 and CalTPA2, the RICA, and New Teacher Induction. These are all requirements to earn a teaching credential in California. All of this has cost a great deal of time and money, in an economy where inflation has spiked, and the cost of living continues to rapidly rise. Unless and until you've actually had to endure teacher credentialing requirements in California, it's really difficult to convey how restrictive, stupid, costly, bureaucratic, and completely unhelpful the entire process really is. To say the whole process feels like a complete waste of time and money is a huge understatement. Here's a short summary of what each of these barriers entails (failure to pass literally any of these means you can't earn a teaching credential in California): Teacher Credentialing Program: 1-year university level program costing thousands of dollars, and an investment of time involving numerous classes on various theoretical aspects of teaching. Some of it was interesting, most of it felt like being held hostage. Unpaid Student Teaching Hours: Two school semesters of unpaid work requiring me to shadow a classroom teacher, where I also had to prepare and adminster classroom plans and lessons, meet with my mentor teacher, and prepare written analysis of those plans. Much of it felt like an exercise in box checking. Again, this was a one-year unpaid commitment. Did I say it was UNPAID? CSET High-stakes standardized general subject multiple choice and short answer tests, supposedly to gauge minimum proficiency. Costs a hundred dollars for each test attempt, whether you pass or fail. Felt like a high stakes test designed to make money for testing companies. (I'm not sure, but I believe the CSET may now have waiver options, but I don't know the details of how restrictive available waiver options may or may not be.) CalTPA1 and CalTPA2 Mind-numbingly, completely useless bureaucratic high-stakes standardized assessments filled to the brim with education speak and terminology that I have never used and will never use in the classroom. Candidates prepare by reading a test booklet that frequently makes contradictory statements and assertions, and lacks clear, presentable information that can be deduced on a Prima Facie basis. When the candidate seeks to find meaningful definitions that would dilineate what the test administrators are actually looking for, the booklet provides vague information, at best. The test administrators don't provide any resources outside of this simple booklet. None whatsoever. Literally. The worst part of these assessments is that, when a candidate fails, they aren't provided any feedback as to why they failed, and how a candidate could remedy their failure. Instead, the candidate is provided with a "Condition Code" which is supposed to indicate where the deficiency lies -- but, in reality, the provided code doesn't yield any information that a candidate could reasonably use to understand why the test administrators made a failure determination. In my university credentialing program, I spoke with many students who failed, and who did not know why they were determined to have failed - that is, what exact criteria was used to make such a determination. Even after having spoken with our college professors, most still did not understand why the test administrators had made such a determination. I was present where many of these conversations between professors and students took place, and most often, the professors would say that the test administrators had made a subjective determination. The professors even sometimes said they did not understand why some assessment submissions were accepted while others were rejected. In other words, the failure determination was completely arbitrary, and not rooted in any objective, measurable manner. This high stakes test costs $150 for each attempt, whether a candidate passes or not. Huge money making opportunity for the testing company. RICA High-stakes standardized multiple choice and short answer tests that ask test takers to choose the best strategy among several teaching reading strategies that could be used in a variety of classroom settings, in order to supposedly show that the candidate understands how to best serve students learning how to read. Among the questions, oftentimes several of the various strategies could be helpful for student(s) if administered in the real world -- however, given the high stakes nature of the test -- unless the candidate chooses the exact absolute "best" strategy -- and there is only one correct answer according to the test administrators -- the candidate may fail the test. Candidates must pass several different tests, and each test costs $57 for each attempt. Two Years of "New Teacher Induction" Two years of regular meetings after school with my mentor teacher, writing analysis of classroom lesson plans and student performance. There was an additional requirement to attend periodic Professional Development meetings and Teacher Induction Meetings after school, during the school year. While it could possibly be argued that this provided an opportunity to bond with my mentor teacher, and/or fellow new teachers, I achieved and would have achieved all of that without this requirement, and the entire experience felt like a huge time suck and exercise in box checking. None of this was paid training. Who pushes all of the above? Democrats. These are their best ideas on how to help bridge the achievement gap. They've been doing this for years, if not decades. What's astounding is that these standards have been developed by the absolute highest of "education experts". These are their best ideas? Some are politicians. Some are "education reformers." Some work for non-profits. Some earn several hundred thousand dollars per year, to write research reports and lobby politicians on which "best teaching practices" they should adopt. Don't believe me? Look at their salaries and backgrounds. I have. As non-profits, with 501(c)3 tax exempt status, their income information is publicly accessible. Astoundingly, some "leaders" earn well over $400,000 per year. In my opinion, with salaries like these , they should be required to be registered as for profit organizations. Being an "education leader" can be a very lucrative business model, and should be taxed as such. Some have taught for five minutes before leaving the classroom, so they can claim to have been a classroom teacher. They seem to really enjoy writing about and giving speeches celebrating how we have to act with a sense of urgency, you know, because it's all about the children. Many of these individuals and organizations are connected with Democratic policy and lawmakers. Oh, and the best part -- they love children so much that they do everything possible to stay as far away from them as possible. In other words, they like to say they have a different role, that they can make more of an impact -- you know -- OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. They like to raise money to fund "research studies" backing up the supposed science of all of this -- yet, what's unmistakeable is, they have a clear bias and agenda, and there's no objectively reliable, measurement tool in which to determine teacher effectiveness. There is absolutely an undeniable subjective aspect to determining teacher effectiveness. If I am incorrect in making such an assertion, what standardized assessment tool exists today that is used to measure teacher effectiveness, that has been reliably proven - over time - to be an objectively effective measurement tool used to gauge teacher effectiveness? If such a study exists supporting a particular assessment tool, has the study been subject to and adhered to Double Blind Peer Review guidelines, to reduce the chance of bias? The answer is no and no. In other words, they claim that these standards help prepare teachers, but their determinations are entirely subjective, and they have a clear economic interest in pushing these proposals. In my opinion, they make these claims because such messaging resonates with Democratic politicians and voters, and that helps keep the donor dollars rolling in. The wheel greases itself. Not a bad business model if you want to make alot of money. What seems to happen with education policy is that every few years education "leaders" write and create "newer and better" standards to help better prepare teachers. They talk about replacing various barriers, which they do as they end up creating new barriers that are just as ridiculous, unhelpful, and also huge time sucks and money grifting opportunities for "education leaders". This doesn't mean Republicans get a clear pass, of course. I don't like that Republicans dislike unions. While I do think some unions are useless for members, generally, union membership leads to better wages and working conditions, and, in my opinion, teachers, at least, are still underpaid. But, to me, that's the only plus that Democrats have. Other than that, Republicans generally want to ease these types of restrictive, costly, useless credentialing requirements. And, sure, while Republicans want to do silly, harmful things like banning some books, and I'm not in favor of that, all of the above is still far much more harmful to teachers and schools than book banning. And through all of this, Democrats don't even bother to acknowledge that teachers are human beings who can and should have interests and lives outside of the classroom, and how important it is to balance personal and work life, in order to be happy. Instead, teachers are treated as cogs on a wheel, to be cranked and turned as much as they want, without regard to impact. Meanwhile, in the minds of Democrats, this is all okay because they acknowledge how important we are when they give their same, boring predictable speeches. And while Republicans also want to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT), I can live with that, as I don't teach CRT anyway (and I don't know anybody who teaches CRT). In other words, where Democrats like to create obstacles to prevent me from spending time, you know, actually teaching students, at least Republicans seem to want to let me do my job as an educator. Just with fewer books. That's a better option, in my view. Worse yet, Democrats are supposedly the ones who celebrate teachers. With friends like these, who needs enemies? Many Democratic leaders have also been strong champions of Charter Schools. Keeping my options open, when I was looking, I interviewed with several charter schools, and charter school chains, and had strong interest among several. From what I saw, when exploring options, the biggest difference between traditional public schools and publicly funded, privately run charter schools is that the charters require teachers to work longer hours for lower pay, and with zero professional protections in the event issues arise. They can fire you at any time, for any reason, without recourse, and can direct you to stay at school until any hour, if they so chose. All of the charters I interviewed with expressed that there were issues with student discipline (just like traditional public schools also expressed, when I was looking), and none of their publicly available test data indicated any higher degree of student achievement (considering that test scores are currently the barometer that most people like to use to measure student achievement). Given options, why would I want to choose to work longer hours for lower pay, without a contract and contractual protections, especially when you consider that student outcomes were essentially the same? Considering all of the above efforts, at what other cost is the promotion of the above standards and efforts to "improve" our schools? What is the opportunity cost? Where is parental accountability? Student accountability? Administrative accountability? Student discipline in schools? Any effort to provide smaller class sizes and higher wages? Any effort to teach critical-thinking skills? Any effort to acknowledge that teachers should have healthy, well-balanced lives outside of the classroom? These proposals have all been discarded by the Democratic Party who instead have chosen to wholly focus on "teacher accountability." In fact, both Democrats and Republicans love to push that narrative. Gee, with efforts like these, how could there possibly be a teacher shortage? How could there possibly be an achievement gap? All of this would be a joke if it didn't actually harm the efforts of people who actually want to help students -- you know -- teachers. Possibly the worst part of all of the above is that, not only are all these barriers counter-productive in terms of serving the needs of students, in all likelihood, they also serve to discourage professionals who may otherwise have the skillset to become successful educators - but decide not to take a second look because of the vast bureaucratic waste of time and income loss they would have to subject themselves to. Do we need standards? Of course. We have existing standards already in place that we could use. For example, college degrees from accredited educational institutions, and criminal background checks. Apparently that's too low a bar for "education reformers." They want a piece of the pie - they want their cut, and they want to feel like they've done something to improve schools. So they enact more standards. Then, after a few years, and conditions haven't improved, they repackage and re-sell their latest well-funded shiny objects, claiming that they've now figured out the secret sauce. Then they give a few speeches congratulating each other, and go out to dinner. A few years later, the whole process repeats itself, and everybody acts like the newest, latest proposals have never been tried before. Talk about short-attention span theatre. Don't expect any of this to change. Which is all why I've decided to vote Republican from now on. Democratic leaders have failed teachers in California. I know we're a blue state so, relatively, my vote doesn't really matter. But I find Democratic policies towards public education to be beyond disgusting, and they're definitely not getting my support. Teachers and non-teachers alike, what do you think? Curious if it's just me who feels this way.

2023.06.10 20:26 clinicalasylum my first trip

this is not the first time ive taken shrooms, but the first time i tripped. i took them once before, august of last year. i just went home and passed out, no hallucinations.
my buddy came over one night with a big bag. he said there was around 7g in it. we were mindlessly chompin down on them while we were talking and i realized i had ate way too much for my first time. i had around 3.5g - 4g, we think. i didnt freak out immedately, i just kind of sat there and accepted it. we went to dollar general and i didnt feel anything yet, about 30 minutes after taking. i just felt a "standard high", like if you were smoking weed.
after we got back home, we were chillin in my bed and they started hitting, i was just laughing a shitton with him and taking videos of him. after a while he said he had to go and panic started setting in, i walked him outside to his car and was like, "oh fuck, hes leaving, im gonna be alone." i had a brief breakdown outside and was grabbing onto the wall. i went back inside though like nothing happened and immedately went to my room.
i just chilled with my led lights on, i didnt think to put any music on. after 5 minutes or so, i started freaking out again, uncontrollably crying. i immedately called my boyfriend because i was unsure what to do. he has no experience with any drugs, nor tripsitting, but wanted to be there with me.
immedately in the first 5 minutes of the call i was switching from uncontrollable crying to laughter, in an instant, no way to control it. thats when my mom started to get worried. she yelled from her room, "why are you crying?" and as soon as i opened my door to respond, i started laughing to the point where i had to hold my sides. she just gave me a weird look and brushed it off.
my mom was very much so a partier in her days, so i feel like she knew, i dont really care lol. she's okay with it as long as im in a safe and controlled environment.
that's when it started getting really bad. i sat back on my bed and started freaking out about my mom knowing. i kept asking my boyfriend "do i look normal? does she know? i think she knows." and kept crying over it. like i said, she literally doesnt fucking care. but i was extremely worried. the crying continued for a solid 2 hours, and i came out with a lot of shit that i hadn't told anyone, how my perception of myself was warped, and then i was like "im gonna stop vaping," broke all my vapes, etc. how social media destroyed my life, and i went on this "self-recovery" little rant, temporarily deleted all my social media, and cut off a lot of people.
in the last hour before i came down, i hung up on my boyfriend without a word and went on tiktok. i just mindlessly scrolled without even processing what i was watching. the hallucinations were bad, i closed my eyes for what seemed like hours but it had only been like 5 minutes. think of like, those mandala stencils. everything looked like that.
eventually i did come down, apologized to everyone, reactivated my socials, and tried to unfuck my life lol. it was a really embarrassing experience but i do admit i felt a bit sad as i was coming down. for the next 5-6 hours i couldnt look at my face too much or it started warping, which i didnt really get. it broke out my eczema majorly, but i couldnt tell if that was from the crying, or the actual shrooms. it took me quite a long time to recover, like 5-6 days.
anyways, thanks for reading. reminder for myself: dose correctly, dumbass.

2023.06.10 19:40 Faithhal How Sex Toys Can Improve Your Sexual Wellness Beyond Providing Pleasure

Sex toys haven't forever been associated with an extravagant market; Customers frequently purchased back massagers with an off-label use as a vibrator or simply did not interact with the products for a considerable amount of time. In any case, on account of changing discernments and mindfulness about joy's part in sexual wellbeing, which is vital to health, sex-toy utilization is on the ascent and disgrace is consistently advancing out. In 2023, nearly 1.5 million Americans, up from 86 million in 2017, said they used them every week, according to market research. We are also better off as a result of sex toys because of their advantages.
One silver lining of the pandemic is that it established the groundwork for an expanded use in sex toys. While people remained at home, they got physically inquisitive and imaginative, whether during masturbation meetings or in the extent of cooperated connections. Reports indicate that during periods of lockdown and isolation, the sale of sex-related products has doubled or even tripled in some countries. Industry dollars support this idea.
As a sex specialist, I love seeing this shift. The documented rise in the use of sex toys has a positive effect on our sexual health and wellness because it encourages us to be more open about sexual discourse and general topics. Why? Although it may begin with pleasure, it is far from over.

2023.06.10 19:32 Itchy_Principle6434 Lazard Fee Estimation and dates of engagement

Lazard Fee Estimation and dates of engagement
Excited about the dockets last night. Some items I found interesting.
Photo 1: Lazard makes the full 15 million with a sell of most of the companies assets. It then refers to Schedule 1 (photo 2) fees associated with an Other Sale Transaction Fee.
Photo 2: Gives us a general idea on the 15 million number and how that fee came to be.
If we look at the 1 billion dollar line the fee would be 1.30%. If they were to sell only Buy Buy Baby for 1 billion, Lazards fee would be 13 million.
*note that I think this is a standard fee structure from Lazard. Technically if Buy Buy Baby sold for more than 2 billion, the company’s fee would then be north of 23 million.
It would be in Lazards best interest to sell Buy Buy Baby for more than about $1.5 billion if they sell it as it’s own asset.
Photo 3/4: this is nothing new. The dates are highly specific and relate to some dates involving Cohen and Icahn.
8/10/22 Original Engagement Letter
Photo 5: Cohen sold shares within a week of engagement letter.
Not pictured: Cohen tweeted a Purple Heart 💜 on 8/10. A Purple Heart is awarded to people who are injured and/or die in the line of duty. I have my Grandfathers Purple Heart from losing his leg. Was Cohen separated from his shares for the greater good?
10/18/22 Dealer Manager Agreement
Phot 6: Cohen and Icahn picture the night before Dealer Manager Agreement was made .
1/15/23 Prior Engagement Agreement
I don’t have a good picture. However there was a snip of pitch book around this time that a LBO happened. Also (photo 7) along with Holly Etlins letter shows that they were trying to sell the company around that time.
Photo 8: Cohen tweeted he buys all stocks on 1/18.
Few weeks later government shot down his balloon.

2023.06.10 18:52 ohnoTHATguy123 I believe I have figured out amplifying information on the Indictment.

(This is taken from a comment I made on another post.)
I'm cracked at this.
I read the indictment and I know what country they are talking about and who the senior military official likely is. I also have a good chance of knowing where this document is.
'Country A' is Iran.
Senior Military official is potentially Acting sectary of defense Chris Miller, but almost certainly General Mark Milley (joint chiefs of staff). He was a vocal, public, figure at the time against action in Iran.
Context: Trump pulls out of the Iran-deal, because it was a right-wing scape goat from the Obama era. All that does is stop Americans from being allowed to go take measurements in Iran to see if they are producing weapons grade uranium.
Iran begins the process of making weapons grade uranium, after all the Americans can no longer be the 'canary in the coal mine'. This process takes many years.
Charitable explanation: Trump saw Iran developing nuclear weapons and thought they should intervene by taking military action.
Non-Charitable explanation from a tell all book but still entirely plausible: Trump was obsessing over his poor approval ratings and saw Iran's nuclear build up as a good reason to go to war. After all, war time presidents get good approval ratings.
Trump at some point orders the DoD to produce a plan to invade Iran. Gen Mark Milley produces it at the President's request. He does not think it's a good idea. Allegedly informing Trump “If you do this, you’re gonna have a fucking war.”. Once again this is from a tell all book of which either hasn't come out yet or I just can't find the name of.
Gen. Mark Milley's disapproval of invading Iran is public knowledge.
In the Indictment, specifically the audio recording, Trump is effectively saying (aka I'm translating trump speak): "Look at how hypocritical Milley is, if he didn't want to invade Iran, why did he procure this plan? It's his plan!!". The President ordered a General to make a plan. He made the plan. He does not think unnecessary war is a good idea. That's where we are.
As to where the document is, And this is my speculation (always important note an information sources biases), It is almost certainly in Suadi Arabia. Jared Kushner met with Saudi Arabia and left that meeting and received a 2 billion dollar deal for his investment company despite massive opposition from those in the industry. Saudi Arabia has a vested interest in taking out Iran. It even is tangentially a good thing for the U.S. in that regard... however, without knowing the specifics of the document It almost always would be an overall negative for the U.S. because we would tell the Saudi's what they need to know about Iran. Other information on the document almost certainly just exposes U.S. capability. We won't be friends with the Saudi's forever.

Appears to be owned by Rockbridge LLC, under Grishin.
Rockbridge LLC also took out two federal covid loans for under $50,000 in 2021 that appear to have been paid off in full or “forgiven.”
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-180558/https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/rockbridge-llc-santa-barbara
The address for Rockbridge LLC is the same as the Wells Fargo in Montecito: 1482 E Valley Rd. Could theoretically have a box there.
Thie Rockbridge LLC shows up a bit with the financial deep dive, but appears to be a bit of a red herring as it only correlates to public record availability pre-Harry and Meg's purchase.
Grishin has since died.

TAXATION DETAILS
Tax assessment for 2021 - 2022 is $141,000 roughly. Taxed at a rate of 1.04%….which seems to be more of a business tax rate….ownership intentionally omitted/redacted.
Current value of the home assessed at just under: $13.3 mil.

Interestingly, they are listed as a Prop 13/AB8 which is why their initial taxes were soooo low at 1.04%. This means their property taxes are reevaluated with the current market value of their property as measured by the sale price for change of ownership.

Value: For sale in March 2021 for $22.5 mil.

45 days on the market, then an offer, then a press release stating that they are still open to other offers. This usually indicates it was a low ball offer significantly below the asking price.

  1. Netflix Montecito filming home:
Let’s take a moment to fully acknowledge their authentic, “at home” 'documentary' had the majority not actually filmed at their home.
Address: 888 Lilac Drive
Value: Listed Dec 2022 for $33.5 mil.
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-173046/https://robbreport.com/sheltehomes-for-sale/harry-and-meghan-documentary-compound-lists-1234787523/
This was where they filmed Netflix. It was filmed in another Montecito home they passed off indirectly as theirs, as they never clarified it was not their home during filming their 'behind the scenes'. Harry was likely paranoid about a security risk, whereas Meg likely saw an opportunity for implied flexing. She knows the Olive Garden beige property is dated. Filmed in a home valued over twice as much as theirs.
As of March 2023, still on the market at its original price.
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-173844/https://www.mansionglobal.com/articles/inside-the-montecito-villa-where-harry-and-meghan-filmed-their-documentary-25a05f99
  1. Neighbour’s home #3
Address: 830 Riven Rock Rd. According to Google maps, a 2 min drive or 7 min walk from the Sussexes.
Value: Sold for $14.5mil in Apr 2022.
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-171250/https://www.redfin.com/CA/Santa-Barbara/830-Riven-Rock-Rd-93108/home/21608407.
IN SUM:

No confirmation on if one, both, or neither are living there. However, there are multiple reports swirling that Harry (or Meg) may regularly retreat to a room at San Ysidro Ranch. This includes the thank you card recently publicized for the bike Archie was recently gifted for his birthday, but interestingly publicized a month later, sent from an employee of SYR. Google maps puts it at a. 7 min drive from their address.

Also keep in mind any RivenRock allusions in online accounts, donations, or LLCs....perhaps could be illuminating for who is behind them.
So there you have it. Make of it what you will.

[IndiaSpeaks Biweekly Geopolitics Thread] Dam collapses in occupied Ukraine, Pak raises defense spending, and OpenAI chief visits India
Welcome to the latest edition of the Geopolitics Thread! This is the place where we discuss events from around the world. Discussion does not have to be related to India. Here are some stories to get the conversation started:

Top Stories

  1. Donald Trump faces criminal case for mishandling secret documents
Donald Trump is facing charges for keeping classified documents in his shower, bedroom, and destroying them. The Department of Justice has charged the former president with two counts of mishandling classified information and one count of destroying federal records. The charges stem from an investigation into Trump's handling of classified information while he was in office. Trump has denied any wrongdoing, but the charges could carry a prison sentence of up to five years. The charges against Trump are the latest in a series of legal problems facing the former president. He is also facing investigations into his business dealings and his role in the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Trump is currently running for another term a President.
2.Major dam in occupied Ukraine collapses
The Nova Kakhovka dam in occupied parts of Ukraine was destroyed amidst Russia's invasion and annexation of parts of the country. It is not clear under what circumstances the collapse happened, but deliberate destruction of a dam is a war crime as defined by the Geneva Conventions. Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine, including Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, may see some of the worst impacts. The flooding along the Russian-controlled southern shore of the Dnipro is significantly worse than on the Ukrainian-held northern side. Even before the cost of the current losses is calculated, international markets have taken note. The flooding helped to trigger a sharp rise in global wheat prices, hurting developing countries that depend on Ukrainian wheat exports.
  1. Canadian wild fires bring pollution to US
Millions of people in the US East Coast and Canada experienced smoky air for a third day on June 9, 2023, as wildfires continued to burn in the western United States. The smoke caused hazy skies and poor air quality in many cities, including New York, Boston, and Toronto. The wildfires are the worst in decades, and have forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes. The smoke from the fires is being carried by the wind to the East Coast, where it is mixing with other pollutants to create unhealthy air conditions. In addition to the health risks, the wildfires are also having a significant economic impact. The fires have forced the closure of schools, businesses, and tourist attractions. The cost of fighting the fires is also mounting, and is expected to reach billions of dollars. New York City this past week was the most polluted city in the world.
  1. Pak unveils $50bn budget, raises defense spending
Pak's finance minister presented a $50 bn budget for the cash-strapped country, with half the budget set aside for servicing loans. Pakistan's economy has been stricken by a balance-of-payments crisis as it attempts to service crippling external debt, while months of political chaos have scared off potential foreign investment. PM Sharif said he was optimistic for an extension later this month on an International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan facility crucial to keeping the economy afloat. The country failed to meet any economic growth targets for the fiscal year 2022-23, according to a key government report released Thursday, with GDP growth a miserly 0.3 percent. Still, the govt set a growth target of 3.5% for the current year, which is expected to also be missed by a wide margin. It also had an annual inflation forecast of 21 percent, against a current year-on-year rate of 37.97 percent. The budget earmarked 1.8 trillion rupees for defence spending -- up from last year's 1.5 trillion rupees.
  1. Biden, Sunak sign the 'Atlantic Declaration'
On a visit to the US, UK PM Sunak and US President Biden signed a "first of its agreement," called the Atlantic Declaration, that will serve as a framework for the two countries on the development of emerging technologies, protecting technology that is critical to national security and other economic security issues. As part of the declaration announced Thursday, the two sides will kick off negotiations on the use of minerals from the UK that are critical in the production of electric vehicles that are eligible for US tax credits. The administration has also opened talks with the European Union and forged a deal with Japan that allow certain critical raw materials for EVs to be treated as if they were sourced in the United States. The 15-month-old Russian invasion of Ukraine was high on the agenda. Biden reiterated confidence that Congress would continue to provide Ukraine funding as needed despite some hesitation among Republican leaders at the growing cost of the war for American taxpayers. Sunak also made the case to Biden for UK Defence Minister Ben Wallace to succeed outgoing NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who is set to end his term leading the 31-member alliance in September.

Takashi Murakami Fears that AI Might Make Him Obsolete

Neo-pop workmanship whiz Takashi Murakami has consistently embraced innovation and was an early adopter of crypto and NFTs, however, even he concedes expecting that simulated intelligence could make him outdated.
Murakami, 61, has turned into a brand unto himself because of his loveable technicolor canvases that blend conventional Japanese craftsmanship themes with current anime and manga.

Takashi Murakami Fears on AI

His compositions have sold for a large number of dollars, prompted design coordinated efforts with Louis Vuitton and Kanye West, and been displayed at a portion of the world’s extraordinary organizations, valued as wise editorials on the scarce difference between workmanship and business.
“The generational change will be emotional,” he told AFP at the kickoff of another display at the Gagosian exhibition on the edges of Paris.
It helps him to remember the appearance of the Macintosh II PC during the 1980s cleared away a more established age of plan experts but enabled the people who embraced it.
That implies power may be moving from specialists to tech engineers, who will want to investigate things that are difficult to envision right now.
Unexpectedly, Murakami says he was contacted to get some commendation from a more customary piece of Japanese society with his new work in tribute to Kabuki theater at long last.
  • He addressed AFP before a tremendous 23-meters-in length by 5-meters-high fresco that tells a Kabuki story in his stunning, silly style.
  • It has not generally made him famous with Japan’s specialty foundation, however, Murakami likes being a disruptor.
  • He sees one more rush of progress coming thanks to man-made intelligence-controlled programming.
  • Regardless, his obligation to mechanical change is clear.
Guests to Saturday’s exhibition opening — — requiring some commitment since it was stowed away among the personal luxury plane shelters close to Charles de Gaulle air terminal — — was set to get an NFT of a bloom-enhanced virtual coin.
The show incorporates a mass of NFT-style pixelated pictures that define a boundary from Karl Marx and Adam Smith to current tech honchos Vitalik Buterin and Elon Musk.
Like all his work, they are misleading straightforward, apparently printed, yet carefully painted the hard way and afterward lacquered to eliminate any indication of human contribution and make his famous “Superflat” stylish.
He views this work as building a scaffold among conventional and computerized craftsmanship, yet concedes they can be a hard sell.
